‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Co-EP Slams Disgraced Writer Elisabeth Finch, Who Faked Cancer, for Fundraising Amid L.A. Wildfires: “This Person Is a Scammer”

Generous aid initiatives have sprung up everywhere in Los Angeles following the devastating wildfires, with an influx of donation centers, countless GoFundMe campaigns, substantial donations totaling millions from major Hollywood studios, streaming platforms, corporations, nonprofits, and celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio, Eva Longoria, and Taylor Swift.

Recently, questions are being raised about a particular person’s fundraising efforts – Elisabeth Finch, who was once a writer for the TV show Grey’s Anatomy. On social media, she announced that she was personally collecting funds through Venmo, saying “These are my personal efforts. I’m right here on the ground. Even getting dog food while evacuated was tough for me, and I had a safe place to be. This is for those who have nothing and need help with their pets’ essential needs.” The post, which circulated on Facebook on Thursday, reportedly came from Finch’s private account. She encouraged people to send donations directly to her Venmo or another service like Zelle, stating that she wanted to avoid fees associated with GoFundMe.

In a shocking turn of events, I found myself being called out by Jamie Denbo, a renowned actress, TV writer, and co-executive producer for ‘Grey’s Anatomy’. She reposted something about me and didn’t hold back, exposing some questionable actions from my past that were uncovered in the Peacock docuseries ‘Anatomy of Lies’. On her Facebook page, she bluntly declared, “This person is a SCAMMER and a LIAR.” Her post reached over 4,500 friends and was picked up by The Hollywood Reporter. She warned everyone not to donate to me, citing instances where I’ve falsely claimed to have cancer or that my late brother is still alive, among other things. In light of this revelation, please reconsider any plans to donate to Elisabeth Finch.

The post garnered various comments from several Hollywood figures, many of whom showed astonishment (for instance: “NOT A CHANCE”, “THE BRAZENESS” and “RIDICULOUS.”). However, some provided a more light-hearted response. One friend joked, “Maybe she has changed her ways and is now contributing to the welfare of homeless dogs instead.

We attempted to get a response from Finch and Denbo through Facebook; this article will be updated if or when they reply. However, it has been alleged that Finch exaggerated her experiences by claiming to have suffered from the rare bone cancer chondrosarcoma, losing a kidney, undergoing an abortion, and dealing with PTSD due to her close connection to the 2018 Pittsburgh synagogue shooting, among other supposed traumatic events. These stories appear to be fabrications.

The entire Finch scenario generated ripples of astonishment throughout the Grey’s Anatomy community, including fans and those beyond, as it escalated into one of the most shocking Hollywood scandals in recent times. Previously a prominent writer and co-executive producer on Grey’s for eight seasons, Finch was eventually unmasked for a string of sensational falsehoods. The exposures arrived via emails sent to Grey’s creator and supervisor, Shonda Rhimes, by Finch’s estranged spouse, Jennifer Beyer. Beyer alleged that Finch had invented numerous aspects of her personal life, details which had served as the foundation for numerous plotlines.

Following an examination by Shondaland and Disney, Finch stepped away from Grey’s Anatomy indefinitely in March 2022 due to their investigation. Notable writer Evgenia Peretz published a comprehensive two-part exposé on Finch in Vanity Fair, with Beyer providing significant assistance in uncovering years of fabricated claims by Finch. Later, Peretz collaborated with David Schisgall to direct Anatomy of Lies for Peacock.

Following that incident, Finch made two public apologies; one during a late 2022 interview with Peter Kiefer for The Ankler, and another on her now-private social media platform, where she expressed regret to her family and friends upon the release of Anatomy of Lies. However, Beyer, on Facebook, turned down the former apology, stating that her ex-wife has shown no genuine remorse for her actions towards either him or their children.
