Once again, Clive Barker, known for his adult-oriented series like Hellraiser, ventures into a new territory – children’s animation. Surprising, isn’t it? The upcoming animated film, Night of the Zoopocalypse, promises to bring Barker’s horror prowess to the table. A sneak peek was unveiled in November 2024, sparking excitement among viewers. As National Popcorn Day (January 19) approaches, the animated PG horror movie has shared a popcorn-themed clip and a fresh poster.

The animated clip introduces an eccentric group of characters, voiced by well-known actors including David Harbour from Stranger Things, Scott Thompson from The Kids in the Hall, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee from The Mandalorian, and Gabbi Kosmidis from Netflix’s Unicorn Academy. This movie, revolving around popcorn, gives a glimpse into the absurdity of a zoo inhabited by chatty animals. Based on an idea born in the mind of a renowned horror author, such as the creator of Hellraiser and Candyman, this animated film also benefits from his executive production role.

The popcorn commercial serves as a preview for the upcoming theatrical release of the animated movie, slated for March 7, generously provided by Viva Pictures. Boasting a script penned by James Kee, who also co-wrote “A Christmas Horror Story,” this film has already garnered significant acclaim. Notably, it is being directed by two renowned animators and story artists: Ricardo Curtis, known for The Incredibles, and Rodrigo Perez-Castro, who worked on The Book of Life.
