Season 3 of “The Traitors” is showing us why it’s becoming a standout in the realm of reality TV. In just four episodes, we’ve been thoroughly captivated. Some even argue that the fourth episode is the best of “The Traitors” US so far.
Episode 4 of Season 3 of “The Traitors” was packed with mystery, destruction, deception, strategic maneuvers, and a hint of Zach Efron getting into trouble, potentially igniting one of the fiercest and balanced reality TV rivalries. I adored this episode, but I’m torn about certain choices made within it. I feel compelled to discuss it further.
Warning: The Traitors Season 3 Episodes 1-4 spoilers are ahead. Proceed with caution.
Boston Rob Leading The Charge To Take Out Bob The Drag Queen Was A Thrilling Moment
As a passionate admirer of Bob the Drag Queen, I eagerly anticipated his role as a Traitor in the show. The idea of such a charismatic figure playing a treacherous character was full of promise. Indeed, Bob delivered some unforgettable scenes during his brief stint on The Traitors Season 3. He was undeniably one of the most inspired casting choices for the series thus far.
However, it must be said that Bob’s performance as a Traitor could have been stronger. This weakness in strategy is what ultimately allowed Dylan Efron to unmask him early on.
It came as a surprise to me that Bob managed to last through the entire season, given my initial expectations. However, when Boston Rob Mariano betrayed him at the roundtable, I was genuinely shocked. Since I’m not well-versed in Rob’s reality TV background, I wasn’t aware of his ruthless strategies. If I had known more about his gameplay on other shows, perhaps his actions wouldn’t have caught me off guard.
I adore Bob just as much as I appreciate fantastic reality TV scenes, and the face-off between Bob and Rob is pure television magic. It’s both shocking and exhilarating, leaving fans of “The Traitors” buzzing with excitement about their commitment to this Peacock original. This Rob versus Bob battle has earned a spot in the Reality TV Hall of Fame and could potentially rank among the best moments “The Traitors” has ever produced.
But, I Don’t Know If It Was The Right Move
Considering how thrilling those moments were, I’m not certain it was the wisest course of action. Boston Rob quickly responded to Bob hinting that one of the three newcomers (Boston Rob, Wes Bergmann, and Derrick Levasseur) might be a Traitor. However, Bob didn’t explicitly aim at Rob; instead, he implied the possibility. Consequently, Rob seemed to adopt a defensive stance, acting as if he needed to eliminate Bob before Bob eliminates him.
This strategy isn’t necessarily wrong, but it appeared premature to take such a daring action so early. Typically in seasons of The Traitors, the traitors don’t reveal themselves until more faithful members have been eliminated. They usually do this when there are no other alternatives, or when they believe they must provide a traitor to divert attention from the faithful. However, Rob had several alternative strategies before he flipped the situation on Bob.
For instance, Nikki Garcia and Ciara Miller from the show “The Traitors” faced some scrutiny. Rob might have simply capitalized on this situation by letting one of them be expelled. However, he chose a different route, subtly stirring doubts about Bob. This escalated during the roundtable discussion where he took decisive action against Bob. Moreover, his actions left Danielle Reyes and Carolyn Wiger in a tough spot, forcing them to align with him rather than Bob.
It was a major move, which seems to have worked in Rob’s favor but maybe not for long.
It May Raise Red Flags For Carolyn And Danielle About Working With Boston Rob
In Episode 5 of Season 3 of The Traitors, it appears that Carolyn and Danielle might team up against Rob in the near future, as suggested by their conversation. So far, these two have not been a strong alliance. However, Rob could potentially be the common adversary that brings them together. Furthermore, Bob’s departure could lead to a strengthened bond between Danielle and Carolyn, who were originally Traitors. Since Danielle and Bob had a tight relationship, it’s possible that Danielle seeks revenge for this perceived betrayal.
It appears that Carolyn disapproves of Rob’s behavior due to its harshness. In fact, he has deceived the team. As a result, both Danielle and Carolyn find it difficult to rely on him. So far, we haven’t witnessed the consequences of his attempts to eliminate Bob, but I suspect he will try to make amends with them later on.
If he does comply, they might feign comprehension and act as though everything is alright. Yet, Danielle and Carolyn are just as cunning as Rob. They might maintain an appearance of harmony, but I anticipate them to conspire and strategize to remove him from the equation. Had Rob not made such a bold move against Bob, the Traitors could have collaborated for longer, potentially. If Bob was simply targeted by default, the group could have remained intact without him. However, now a potential conflict may arise between Danielle and Rob, which could eventually force Carolyn to take a stance.
It Further Sparks My Fear That He Might Be The Last Traitor Standing.
Despite my disapproval towards Rob’s decision as a fan of Bob the Drag Queen, there’s a possibility it might benefit him in the end. His action of helping to eliminate Bob gained him a significant amount of trust among others like Dylan. However, more experienced players such as Wes are wary, recognizing that Rob’s overconfidence in targeting Bob seems suspicious.
In the previous week, one of my concerns regarding this season was that Boston Rob might be the last ‘Traitor’ remaining. To clarify, I hold no personal bias towards Boston Rob. Frankly, I don’t know him well. However, I favor Danielle, Carolyn, and Bob due to their extensive background in reality TV shows. It seems likely that Wes has come to understand that Boston Rob is a ‘Traitor’, but it remains uncertain if he holds enough sway to promote this perspective.
In all honesty, it seems nearly insurmountable for anyone to gather enough support to oust Rob, given his remarkable track record of victories.
Bob Was So Entertaining On The Show That It Feels Like A Major Loss
In Season 3 of “The Traitors,” Bob stood out as a significant figure, and his absence will certainly be felt. It’s disappointing to see another vibrant personality from the LGBTQ+ community depart so quickly. Moreover, Bob is one of the rare instances of LGBTQ+ representation on “The Traitors.” Unfortunately, Bob was eliminated early due to some complex gameplay, but his performance made for an entertaining spectacle.
I skip watching The Traitors US Season 3 because it lacks the captivating gameplay I’d find in The Traitors UK Season 2 or The Traitors US Season 1. Instead, I crave chaos, amusement, and over-the-top antics from these reality TV personalities. This year, Bob certainly delivered on all counts. His absence will be deeply felt, particularly by me. The departure of such an entertaining figure takes a significant toll on The Traitors Season 3.
The Traitors Season 3 streams with a Peacock subscription every Thursday at 9/8 C.
