Fire Breaks Out in Los Angeles’ Griffith Park

On Monday afternoon, the Fire Department of Los Angeles reported that their firefighters were working hard to extinguish a blaze located in Griffith Park.

The fire department stated that they received a report about a brush fire at 1:02 p.m., which was spreading from light grass into thicker bushes situated on a slope.

Firefighters swiftly managed the fire, situated south of Griffith Observatory, as reported by the Los Angeles Times. Notably, smoke from the blaze was visible from surrounding areas in Hollywood.

No evacuations have been ordered.

Griffith Park houses famous Los Angeles attractions like the Griffith Observatory, the Greek Theatre, the Los Angeles Zoo, and the iconic Hollywood Sign. Within its boundaries lie the Travel Town Museum and even a carousel.

The National Weather Service has warned that Southern California faces a “highly dangerous fire risk” until Tuesday. They forecast wind speeds of 50-70 mph along the coasts and in valleys, and even stronger winds of 60-100 mph in the foothills and mountains.

Approximately 250,000 customers could potentially experience a power outage due to safety measures, as suggested by local news sources. By early afternoon on Monday, over 5,800 customers had already been affected and lost their power supply.

Meanwhile, our brave firefighters are tirelessly working to control the Palisades Fire, which is currently at 59% containment, and the Eaton Fire, which has reached an impressive 87% containment. It’s a reminder of their unwavering courage and dedication in the face of these relentless blazes.

Over the past fortnight, two significant blazes – the Palisades Fire and the Eaton Fire – have swept across a combined area of approximately 37,734 acres. In their wake, they’ve left devastation for nearly 6,000 buildings (destroyed or damaged) in the case of the Palisades Fire, and over 10,000 structures (also destroyed or damaged) due to the Eaton Fire.

27 individuals have perished due to the urban wildfires, which encompassed incidents such as the Hurst Fire, the Kenneth Fire, and the Hollywood Fire.
