‘Crossed’ Movie, From ‘The Boys’ Creator Garth Ennis, Lands Director (Exclusive)

The film “Crossed” has left an indelible impression on its director, Rob Jabbaz. He is set to direct a movie adaptation of the comic book that unfolds in a world impacted by a pandemic. In this story, individuals who contract the disease develop a cross-shaped rash on their faces as a mark.

Garth Ennis, the originator of ‘The Boys’ and ‘Preacher’, wrote the screenplay, inspired by his own comic book with the identical title.

As a gamer, I’ve got quite the knack for imagining chilling pandemics. I’m the one who brought to life the Taiwanese horror flick, “The Sadness“, a film that delved into a virus causing people to turn violent – offering a fresh take on the classic zombie saga. The movie garnered impressive critiques and clinched the awards for Best Horror Film and Best Director at Fantastic Fest, the Austin festival dedicated to all things genre-related.

In the series titled “Crossed“, those afflicted act upon their darkest urges. This is similar to a zombie apocalypse scenario, except that the menacing beings here are not zombies; rather, they are humans who still possess their cognitive abilities but exhibit psychotic, murderous tendencies.

The project is spearheaded by Six Studios, taking inspiration from the initial ten comics penned by Ennis between 2008 and 2010 that ignited a series extending over 200 issues. Notable contributors to this franchise include Alan Moore, a key figure in the creation of ‘Watchmen’.

Jabbaz expressed it was an absolute pleasure collaborating with Garth Ennis and Six Studios on the big-screen version of Crossed. Since the very beginning, our aim has been to create a true-to-life adaptation of the comic series, while also throwing in some unexpected twists. I can’t wait for everyone to see it!

Carl Choi from Six Studios, together with Benjamin Hung from Retro Entertainment and Ken Levin from Nightsky Productions, will collaborate on the production. Initially, Hung and Levin developed this project with Ennis, then introduced it to Six Studios. Jeff Huang from Six Studios will serve as an executive producer along with Ennis, Carl Amari, and Bill Patterson.

The upcoming movie, projected to cost between 2 and 3 million dollars, is aiming for a shooting schedule in March. David Guglielmo will be responsible for casting, while Lillian Campbell takes on the role of the line producer.

Ennis remarked about the project: “Happy New Year! Regrettably, the world seems to be emulating the universe of Crossed incorrectly as we enter 2025. What a perfect moment, then, to unveil the long-awaited film you’ve all been anticipating!
