If you’re hoping for a cheerful conclusion to Hwang Dong-hyuck’s notorious “Squid Game,” it may be more fitting to let your own imagination fill in the blanks for season three. Singer and actress Jo Yu-ri, who portrays Player 222 or Jun-hee, has given a few clues about what fans can anticipate in the much-awaited finale of “Squid Game.” Unfortunately, the outlook appears to be very bleak indeed.
Ever since the suspenseful finale of season two, viewers have tirelessly brainstormed theories and guesses regarding the final chapter of Squid Game. However, as hinted by the lead actor, their speculations might not be twisted or cunning enough.
As I chat with Cinema Today, I hint at an even bleaker future for our ongoing dystopian survival drama, promising a deeper dive into the grimy underbelly of this post-apocalyptic world.
It appears that numerous individuals have attempted to foretell the plot for season 3, yet their predictions don’t seem to align with what I was expecting. To put it simply, prepare yourselves for a storyline that is exceptionally brutal and cruel, so keep an eager eye out for its unfolding.
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but feel a sense of impending doom for Squid Game protagonist Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), who has been through unspeakable torments throughout this gripping series. Fortunately, we won’t have to endure the wait much longer to see how Gi-hun’s story unfolds and experience the heart-wrenching finale that Yu-ri has hinted at.
Originally, creator Hwang Dong-hyuck had planned for seasons two and three of Squid Game to be combined. However, he later decided that telling his story in separate parts would work better. This means the events of season three were thought out well in advance, although a specific release date for the final season has not been announced. Interestingly, a now-deleted teaser suggested that season three might premiere on June 27th.
Fans Still Have Plenty of Time to Predict ‘Squid Game’s Explosive Ending
According to Yu-ri’s statement, it appears that Squid Game season three will offer quite a few unexpected moments for its viewers. Given that Dong-hyuck isn’t holding anything back in wrapping up the chilling, anti-capitalist thriller, we can make some educated predictions about what lies ahead.
In a heart-wrenching twist, Squid Game, without a doubt, tugs at heartstrings. The tale of Gi-hun, in particular, encapsulates one tragedy after another. Already scarred by witnessing multiple deaths as he competed in the games, he returns home to discover that his mother had already succumbed to an illness – a sad reality that compelled him to participate in the first place.
In the thrilling world of Squid Game, I found myself in a predicament during season two, where I dared to stir up resistance among my fellow players. However, I soon realized that my rebellion was doomed from the start due to the cunning manipulation of the enigmatic Front Man. Now, the outcome of my story remains a tantalizing enigma for Squid Game enthusiasts like myself.
It seems highly doubtful that Gi-hun will continue as a regular player in the games given the amount he now knows. There’s a slight possibility he could instigate another uprising, so The Front Man needs to devise a different method for disciplining Gi-hun. However, there is also a hidden intention behind this – to help Gi-hun comprehend and accept The Front Man’s skewed perspective of the world.
The Lead Character maintains that deep down, every individual is inherently selfish and motivated by personal gain, and he views the Squid Games as a process of survival of the fittest. However, among the game’s participants, Gi-hun stands out as the rare exception who doesn’t fit this description.
To firmly instill his convictions in Gi-hun, the Front Man might elevate him to a position of authority, perhaps even a right-hand man. This could mean making Gi-hun a VIP or, in an even more significant role, my deputy.
Regardless of which situation unfolds, they’d both provide an ideal platform for the harshness and desolation Yu-ri depicted, and would effectively embody the bleak and unyielding nature of capitalism.
