Jenna Ortega’s New Film With The Weeknd Is Coming, And I’m Loving His Comments About What She Was Like On Set

In the lineup of movies set for release in 2025, one is eagerly anticipated by fans of The Weeknd. Known for his hit song “Blinding Lights”, The Weeknd has co-written a movie titled “Hurry Up Tomorrow“, which is inspired by his upcoming album. Actors Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan are joining him in this production. As we anticipate further information about the thriller, The Weeknd has praised Ortega’s contributions to the project.

Following an impressive 2024 where Jenna Ortega shone as the leading lady in one of the year’s blockbusters, “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”, the actress is gearing up for an even more remarkable year in 2025 with a host of projects slated for release. One of these ventures saw her collaborating closely with a renowned global pop star. Here’s what The Weeknd shared about working alongside the 22-year-old during a recent interview with Variety:

Jenna truly added richness to the character portrayal. A moment came where Trey and I exchanged glances, thinking, “On script, this seems ludicrous – how could it work on-screen?” But she replied, “I’ve got an idea.” She took charge of that entire scene – much of it was improvised, and many of my responses were not acting.

The Weeknd expressed being spellbound by the young actress, and considering the impressive performances she’s already delivered, it doesn’t come as a shock to me. The upcoming film “Hurry Up Tomorrow,” directed and co-written by Terry Edward Shults, who is also known for “It Comes At Night” (2017) and “Waves” (2019), has piqued my curiosity. Though the plot details are scarce, The Weeknd’s comments on Jenna Ortega’s acting performance have me eagerly anticipating what’s in store for this movie.

As a film enthusiast, I can’t help but marvel at Jenna Ortega’s significant contribution to the making of “Hurry Up Tomorrow.” Her unique interpretation of her character left an indelible mark that initially hadn’t been envisioned by the two chief architects of the movie. Furthermore, following our shared screen time for The Weeknd’s feature debut, I found myself sharing my thoughts with him about the experience.

On our set, Abel was simply delightful and always had everyone’s best interests at heart. It was truly enjoyable working with him and contributing to the realization of his creative ideas.

It seems like The Weeknd and this other talent shared a deep passion for horror, as evidenced by their connections. For three consecutive years, Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights featured houses inspired by The Weeknd, merging his chilling visions with his chart-topping tunes. Earlier, he appeared in the series “The Idol,” which garnered mixed reactions from critics and ultimately was terminated by HBO.

Before the “Hurry Up Tomorrow” movie hits theaters on May 16 (from Lionsgate), The Weeknd’s new album will be released next week, specifically on January 31. To add to the excitement, the artist has also revealed plans for a tour accompanying his upcoming album.
