Dean Norris: Crypto Scam Victim or Crypto King? 🤯

So, you know that whole “Breaking Bad” thing? Yeah, well, turns out Walter White wasn’t the only one with a shady side hustle. Dean Norris, the actor who played the ever-so-serious Hank Schrader, found himself in a real-life crime drama recently, but instead of meth, it involved… crypto. 😳

It seems some particularly clever internet mischief-makers decided to take advantage of Norris’s wholesome image and make a quick buck off the good ol’ fashioned “pump and dump” scheme. They used a photoshopped picture of Norris holding a notepad that said “$DEAN” and a video of him supposedly announcing the launch of his own meme coin. Talk about a bad case of digital identity theft! 😬

The hackers, apparently believing that people would fall for anything with “Breaking Bad” attached to it, managed to convince some folks that Norris was actually a crypto mastermind in disguise. The $DEAN meme coin, fueled by this “celebrity” endorsement, reached a whopping $8.4 million market cap before the truth came out. Talk about a wild ride! 🎢

One of the most believable hackings/scams I’ve seen on here. They had a follow up tweet ready with a photoshopped notepad to “validate” it, had a cameo purchased of Dean Norris saying “Hey it’s me, Dean, it’s January 25th, I’m declaring, it’s real”

Well, the jig was up when Norris finally got his account back and made a video to clear his name. He explained that he was hacked, called the whole thing a “crazy crypto sh*t,” and asked everyone to ignore “whatever that was.” But, of course, by that point, the damage was done. 😓

The $DEAN coin, after the news of Norris’s actual involvement broke, plummeted down to a paltry $57,000. The internet, with its uncanny ability to turn on a dime, decided that Dean Norris was not, in fact, the crypto kingpin they thought he was. Talk about a swift change of heart! 💀

In a separate post, Norris called out some Reddit users who accused him of profiting from the “pump and dump” scheme. He basically said, “Look, I don’t even know how to use Telegram, and I barely even use Twitter. This is all a load of hogwash!” Poor guy, just trying to live his life, and now he has to deal with crypto conspiracies on top of it all. 🙄
