Al-Hilal and Neymar Jr. Come to Mutual Agreement To Terminate His Contract

32-year-old soccer star, Neymar Jr., has decided jointly with Saudi Pro League team Al-Hilal to end his contract prematurely. This move seems to pave the way for Neymar Jr.’s anticipated comeback to Santos FC, the Brazilian club where he initially rose through the ranks as a young player. According to ESPN, Neymar Jr. is planning to ink a six-month deal with an extra year’s option at Santos within the next few days.

In addition to ending his contract, Neymar has opted to relinquish a substantial portion of his earnings from the original agreement. Reports suggest he will forfeit between $25 million and $30 million USD out of the remaining $65 million USD in his contract. Following his move to the club in 2023, purchased from Paris Saint-Germain for a fee of $97.6 million USD, Neymar sustained an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee while playing for Brazil during the World Cup. This setback occurred soon after he joined Al-Hilal, and his recovery process affected his performance with the Saudi Arabian team. He returned to the field only last October, having played a total of seven games with Al-Hilal, where he also experienced a hamstring injury.

In a group stage match of the AFC Champions League against Nassaji Mazandaran on October 3rd, 2023, Neymar Jr. managed just a single goal for Al-Hilal. Despite his frequent injuries and limited appearances, he continues to be one of football’s most prominent figures. His future remains uncertain.

Neymar Jr. and Al Hilal have decided to end his contract amicably. Best of luck, Neymar! 💙
