Terrifier’s Art the Clown Actor Transforms into Joker in Gruesome ‘Jokers Wild’ Fan Film!

In the 2025 fan film titled “Jokers Wild,” starring from “Terrifier,” Art the Clown‘s actor, David Howard Thornton, swaps his signature makeup for the role of Batman’s arch-nemesis, the Joker, not in James Gunn’s DC Universe. In this film directed by Aaron W. Bennett, Thornton takes on the part of Batman’s most formidable adversary. The movie’s title hints at multiple Jokers, but it primarily focuses on a cat-and-mouse game between the menacing villain armed with a crowbar and Robin (Joel LeBlanc). Although Batman (Hunter G. Williams) makes a brief appearance at the end, the main event is the battle between these two characters. You can watch this intriguing film below.

The film “Jokers Wild” is a visually stunning production, with impressive cinematography and set design to its credit, that elegantly recreates the iconic comic book storyline, “A Death in the Family” (1988), written by Jim Starlin and illustrated by Jim Aparo. This heart-wrenching tale was first published in Batman issues 426 through 429, and it is globally recognized for the Joker’s tragic act of taking the life of Robin II, Jason Todd.

Jokers Wild, however, deviates significantly from the original tale. Although the concept of the Joker tormenting his captive is intriguing, the dialogue between them in the comic doesn’t follow this pattern. As Robin fears that Sheila Haywood, his biological mother, might be in peril, he disregards Batman’s instruction not to confront the Joker alone. This defiance by the Boy Wonder would cause a stir throughout the realm of comics.

The Terrifying Truth of ‘A Death in the Family’

Further installments of the “Terrifier” series are upcoming, though eager fans must bide their time before actor David Howard Thornton reprises his chilling role as Art the Clown. Meanwhile, they can catch a glimpse of the performer’s take on the Joker in the fan film, “Jokers Wild”. This production does adhere to the essence of “A Death in the Family”, as it depicts the murder of Jason Todd’s Robin by the Joker – but beyond that, the similarities largely cease.

In issue 427 of Batman, as Jason arrives to shield his mother, it’s unfortunate that Robin carelessly unveils his hidden identity to her. However, Sheila swiftly turns against her son since she’s been stealing funds, and delivers him to the Joker! At first, young Robin manages to keep up with Batman’s arch-nemesis, but he soon loses ground when two towering henchmen – reminiscent of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson – effortlessly overpower the boy.

Gazing at me with a chilling grin that sent shivers down my spine, the Joker grabs a crowbar, launching a brutal assault on Robin until he collapses unconscious. Concerned that Batman might uncover my role in this vicious attack, I devise a cunning plan to conceal my actions – trapping both Robin’s ally and his mother inside the warehouse, setting a bomb with a ticking clock that threatens their lives!

Following the Joker’s exit, Robin stirs back to life and frees his mother from her bonds. The boy’s visage bears marks similar to those seen in the latest fan film – bruised and bloodied. Aaron W. Bennett’s movie also references Jason Todd’s swollen right eye, a detail straight out of comic book issue #427. However, as they approach the door, Sheila lets out a terrified shriek upon discovering that the Joker has trapped them within. Batman arrives too late and witnesses the ensuing explosion. He finds Sheila mortally wounded in the aftermath, who whispers to Bruce that Jason was a far better son than she could ever deserve.

In my perspective as a movie reviewer, upon Sheila’s demise, I found Batman unearthing Jason’s corpse, entangled within the remnants of his Robin suit. “There’s no need to verify a heartbeat,” Bruce remarks, yet he checks nonetheless. “He’s growing chilly to the touch.” With a heavy heart, Batman gathers and tenderly carries his deceased comrade, leaving behind the crime scene.

Bennett’s Jokers Wild may not accurately portray A Death in the Family, but it remains an intriguing and skillfully made fan film that’s definitely worth watching. For those unfamiliar with the Terrifier series, make sure to catch David Howard Thornton at his finest in the highly recommended Terrifier 3. The latest addition to the horror franchise is now streaming on digital platforms via standard VOD services.
