Following ten thrilling episodes, Season 3 of The Sex Lives of College Girls has concluded its run on the 2025 TV lineup. Despite my initial reservations about the season following Reneé Rapp’s emotional departure, it turned out to be one of the best seasons for this Max original series yet. The unexpected turn came in the season finale when the creators of the show deviated from their usual pattern and opted against ending on a cliffhanger.
Watching Whitney, Bela, Kimberly, and the latest addition, Kacey, in their dorm, beaming with joy, was truly delightful amidst a season that tested the girls severely. But the absence of a dramatic season-ending cliffhanger doesn’t diminish the continuation of the Essex girls’ tales. In fact, I firmly believe there are even stronger arguments now for the series to be renewed for a fourth season.
Bela Deserves Time To Continue To Embrace Her Bisexuality
In Season 3, a significant development was Bela acknowledging her bisexuality. From the very start, viewers have speculated about Bela’s sexual orientation due to hints suggesting she is queer-coded and their growing interest in Leighton after they came out as a lesbian. The confirmation of her bisexuality occurred when Bela shared a kiss with the organizer of the school’s storytelling events.
She swiftly accepted and expressed her newly discovered sensuality, revealing her truth to friends and later her mother shortly following this transformative realization. However, what spectators understand about Bela is that anything that appears excessively idealistic likely isn’t. Despite the positive vibes surrounding Haley, Bela doesn’t boast a stellar history in relationships. Moreover, as a self-declared advocate for sexual positivity who constructed an entire comedy act around her male romantic encounters, it’s doubtful that Haley will be her everlasting love.
Personally, I’m eagerly anticipating a fourth season of the comedy series to explore further romantic blunders and entanglements of the character Bela, given she’s expanded her potential dating pool twice as much.

Since Leighton is no longer around, the girls introduce a new roommate into their circle for this season. From the get-go, Kacey finds herself embroiled in some major drama as she learns that her high school sweetheart has been unfaithful and subsequently begins dating a fellow cast member from the school’s theater group. Matters escalate when Kacey loses her virginity to this cast member, yet he ends their relationship because he feels their pace is too rapid for him.
Fortunately, Kacey manages to get her due from Cooper by powerfully singing “Never Enough” in a heartfelt display during the show. This instance serves as a powerful moment for Kacey, who has grappled with self-worth issues this season. However, her journey of growth continues.
The fourth season of “Sex Lives of College Girls” should be produced, allowing Kacey to further develop and ultimately stand up against her domineering mother. Additionally, it would be intriguing to witness her finding a new romantic interest – possibly the student stage manager from the theater, who appeared to be smitten with Kacey’s outstanding performance in the final episode.

There’s More Room For Whitney To Grow Into Her Own
Since joining Essex College, I’ve been deeply immersed in soccer – my college journey has been intertwined with this sport. However, this season took an unexpected turn when I made a difficult decision to prioritize my wellness over my soccer responsibilities and stepped away from the team. But as it turns out, that hiatus was brief. After creating quite a buzz with the athletic board, I found myself back on the field once more.
For the very first time, it’s Whitney who is asserting her own stand, and it was an incredibly impactful instance. I truly hope that Whitney will keep advocating for herself and working towards ensuring student-athletes can strike a harmonious balance between their academic pursuits, sports commitments, and personal wellbeing.
Is there doubt about whether their second reunion with Canaan will play out differently from their initial relationship? If this isn’t a strong enough argument for the series to be renewed for a fourth season, then I’m at a loss for what would be.
Absolutely, there are other plotlines I’m eager to explore in the upcoming season as well. My affection for Lila has grown significantly, and I believe she merits a more substantial emotional journey rather than just serving as comic relief. Additionally, Kimberly might find herself entangled in legal issues due to her actions in orchestrating the shutdown of the school’s Wi-Fi during a live broadcast of a contentious political figure. Furthermore, it would be disappointing if the series ended before the characters had the opportunity to complete their college education – a scenario that has unfortunately played out before.
Despite the fact that “The Sex Lives of College Girls” hasn’t been renewed for a fourth season after being written, the most effective strategy for fans to encourage this is by streaming the first three seasons extensively using their active Max subscriptions.
