It seems that even beyond the fans, it’s not just about wanting “Stranger Things” to end. Recently, Sadie Sink, known for her role as Max Mayfield, admitted she finds it hard to part ways with her co-stars and the series that significantly boosted her career.
The specific date for the last season of “Stranger Things” hasn’t been disclosed yet, although production wrapped up about a month ago, suggesting that the conclusion is near. When it initially debuted in 2016, the show sparked a significant cultural revival. Now, nearly a decade later, both the cast and audience are finding it tough to bid farewell to this beloved series.
On “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”, Sink disclosed that she is yet to fully move on from a particular phase of her life, but has learned some strategies to handle the grief. “[I] took what I needed [from the set]”, Sink explained. “Just the essentials, you understand. [I] wanted Max’s skateboard… that was actually given to me. I have some Walkmans, some Kate Bush cassette tapes, some Vans and other items. Essentially, every shoe she wore.
For over a decade, conversations have been centered around “Stranger Things“, making it natural and relatable that Sink chose to keep some souvenirs from the hugely successful series. Given that Sink was one of many fans who grew up with the science fiction program, starring in season 2 at age 14 but only 13 during filming, the iconic Hawkins setting and her fellow cast members significantly shaped her teenage years. Now, at 22 years old, it’s time for her to transition to new experiences.
It was incredibly tough, extremely challenging to bid farewell. For approximately a decade, the series ran its course. Yet, there’s a sense of uncertainty; we’ve grown alongside it, alongside one another, much like our viewers have watched us mature over time.
Stranger Things Season 5 is Already Breaking Hearts
In a parallel to Millie Bobby Brown’s character, several other Stranger Things stars find it challenging to move on from Hawkins. During the sneak peek of the fifth and final season, David Harbour (the beloved small-town sheriff) disclosed that almost everyone in the cast shed tears upon reading their scripts for the last episode. Much like Sink, Harbour explained that the younger actors’ profound emotional reaction was due to the significant impact Stranger Things had on their lives, serving as a catalyst for their careers and providing a sense of security and solace over the past ten years. Similarly, Joe Keery, who portrays Steve Harrington, echoed this sentiment about the series coming to an end, acknowledging that while it was the right time for Stranger Things to conclude, he knew bidding farewell would be bittersweet.
Despite not having the ongoing presence of “Stranger Things,” Sink’s acting career appears promising with numerous successful projects under her belt besides it. These include “The Whale” and “Fear Street,” showcasing a versatility and determination that belies her age. At present, she is rumored to take on the role of Jean Grey in an upcoming X-Men film, though this has not been formally verified by Marvel. However, she is officially confirmed to be part of “O’Dessa,” a rock opera movie from Searchlight Pictures, with its premiere scheduled for this year.
