Bode’s Shocking Reaction to Jake and Gabriela Will Leave You Speechless!

Warning: Plot points from Fire Country Season 3, Episode 10 may be revealed below. If you haven’t watched it yet, catch up on Paramount+’s streaming platform!

Since Jake and Gabriela got together on “Fire Country”, I’ve been worried about how Bode would respond. Finally, that long-awaited moment arrived according to the 2025 TV schedule, and Max Thieriot’s character discovered Jake and Gabriela’s surprising decision. His response, to put it mildly, was unpredictable. However, I enjoyed it because it demonstrated how much Bode has evolved over the past three seasons.

How Bode Reacted To The News About Gabriela And Jake

During my conversation with Stephanie Arcila regarding Jake and Gabriela’s significant event, she confessed her suspicion that the audience might not react with overwhelming excitement due to the turbulent past shared by herself, Bode, and Jake.

For some time, Gabs had been involved with both men, and it appeared as if her character and Jordan Calloway’s had completely moved on. Yet, when they found themselves at their lowest ebb, they turned to one another and made a choice that they both later came to regret.

In Episode 10, Jake decided it was time to confess his actions to Bode. As the episode concluded, he approached his close friend and shared what had transpired between him and Gabriela. Here’s how Bode reacted to the revelation, as portrayed by Max Thieriot’s character:

By the end of Episode 10, Jake chose to come clean to Bode about his actions with Gabriela. As the installment drew to a close, he went up to his friend and disclosed what had happened. This was Bode’s response, as depicted by Max Thieriot:

Yesterday when I referred to you as part of our family, including all your quirks and flaws, I was being sincere. It’s not always easy, but we are making it work just fine.

They then did their little handshake, hugged and told each other “I love you.”

In the scene, there was no shouting, no fury, no miscommunication – just a hint of bewilderment, which is reasonable given the circumstances. To put it simply, Bode’s response was surprising, yet it indicated significant progress as well.

Why I Love Bode’s Reaction So Much

First of all, I want to give Jake his flowers. He handled this situation so well. He very carefully broke the news to Bode in a way that recognized his mistake while also reminding them of their past – because Bode essentially did the same thing to Jake back in Season 1. To that point, I think that’s part of the reason why Thieriot’s firefighter wasn’t that mad about this, and we stan self-awareness.

How To Watch Fire Country

Fire Country airs on CBS every Friday at 9 p.m. ET and can be streamed the next day on Paramount+.

Yet, what stands out significantly is Bode’s response, which underscores his personal development. He acknowledges that he was the one who ended things with Gabriela. He admits to having feelings for Audrey. Moreover, he understands the struggles his ex has been facing since their separation and her father’s return to Three Rock.

His ability to prioritize his friendship with Jake over his past romantic relationship with Gabriela demonstrates that he is healing and understands what matters most. It appears he’s concerned about the well-being of both Jake and Gabs, as they seem to be going through tough times. This slip-up was likely just a part of moving forward and focusing on nurturing his friendships.

As the mid-season return of Fire Country approaches, I had been eagerly anticipating Gabriela and Manny mending their relationship and Bode and Audrey clarifying their feelings. To my delight, both developments are unfolding, and what’s more, Bode’s focus on maintaining strong friendships is a twist I didn’t foresee but am thrilled to see play out.
