This monthly feature will see Chrono24 sharing insights about popular high-end timepieces in the second-hand market, drawn from data gathered in real-time from its extensive worldwide marketplace.
Monthly, five timepiece models will be highlighted by Chrono24’s internal team of experts. The selection process is data-driven and focuses on watches that meet all four criteria:
1) The watch should have both an ample supply and demand,
2) There should be a substantial rise in inquiries and offers compared to the preceding month as the benchmark,
3) Search queries for the specific watch model must surpass a significant threshold derived from the dataset,
4) The number of available listings for each model should also exceed a significant threshold established from the dataset.
Read on for the most hyped watches on Chrono24 in January.
OMEGA Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional White 310.30.42.50.04.001
Among OMEGA’s latest additions to their Speedy collection, the Moonwatch Professional White dial watch was introduced approximately a year ago in March 2024. Omega enthusiasts, known for their ardent passion, have long cherished the Speedmaster in its diverse forms. The introduction of model number 310.30.42.50.04.001 ignited that passion even further, with tantalizing glimpses on the red carpet worn by James Bond, Daniel Craig, for several months prior to release. From an aesthetic perspective, the white lacquered dial and bold red “Speedmaster” logo sparked a frenzy among collectors, leading to a significant surge in demand since its debut in March 2024, with requests nearly tripling on Chrono24 by the end of last month.
Rolex Datejust 36 16220 (Black Dial)
The Rolex Datejust with a 36mm diameter, featuring a universal size and a black dial, is arguably one of the most adaptable watches in Rolex’s esteemed collection. Its everyday appeal is evident, making it an ideal choice for various occasions. Powered by the chronometer-certified caliber 3135 and equipped with a quick-set date function, this watch offers unparalleled reliability, making it a thoughtful gift or even a smart personal investment. The 16220 model was manufactured between the late ’80s and mid ’00s, serving as an elegant embodiment of Rolex’s iconic style. On Chrono24, the demand for the 16220 has experienced fluctuations in value since the pandemic, but its popularity reached a high point in January 2025, surpassing even the peak demands seen in November and January 2023.
Tudor Black Bay 41mm M7941A1A0NU-0003
In 2012, Tudor introduced its initial Black Bay model, signifying a significant milestone in the brand’s revival – previously known as Rolex’s sister company, it had been operating rather quietly before its resurgence in the 2000s. Designed for aquatic adventures, the Black Bay M7941A1A0NU-0003 showcases a METAS-certified Master Chronometer and a sleeker, more ergonomic case compared to its earlier versions. Over the past six months, interest in this model on Chrono24 has surged by roughly 25%, reaching its highest point since it was first introduced to the market. Furthermore, the Black Bay’s celebrity endorsements from musicians like John Mayer, Brad Pitt, and Will Smith certainly haven’t hurt its popularity.
Grand Seiko Heritage Collection SBGA413
Fans of Grand Seiko are truly devoted, and it’s understandable given the exceptional craftsmanship of its timepieces. The increased interest in the “Shunbun” SBGA413 is consequential, largely due to its unique Spring Drive movement that ingeniously combines a Quartz with a mechanical movement, offering an optimal blend of precision and smoothness. Furthermore, this model boasts a textured dial with a flake pattern and a titanium case, making it a near-holy grail watch that, fortunately, is less frequently encountered compared to other Grand Seiko models. The desire for this timepiece on Chrono24 escalated significantly throughout 2024, ultimately peaking at an unprecedented level by the close of January 2025.
TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph CBS2210.FC6534
Enthusiasts of watches often call this TAG Heuer model the “Glassbox” chronograph, a nickname that’s rich in vintage references to their earlier Carrera models from the last 60 years. The “Glassbox” design features a dome-shaped covering, eliminating the standard bezel. Although the tachymeter is present, it has been moved to an unconventional location – inside the crystal on the dial. Interest in this Carrera model on Chrono24 has been growing steadily since its introduction, with demand reaching a peak in January 2025. This 39mm watch fits comfortably for most fans, including celebrities like Ryan Gosling, Mick Jagger, and Chris Hemsworth.
