The audience of Bachelor Nation was both startled and concerned when one contestant on Grant Ellis’ season of The Bachelor, which is currently scheduled for 2025, vanished right before a planned one-on-one date. Later, Beverly Ortega explained the reason behind her abrupt departure from the show, disclosing that she underwent an urgent operation.
It was unexpected that Beverly Ortega would be among Grant Ellis’ early eliminations this season, causing fans to worry when it was mentioned on the episode that she had fallen ill and wouldn’t rejoin Bachelor Mansion. Ortega later explained her abrupt departure in an interview on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, stating that she woke up with intense stomach pain and ended up vomiting for 12 hours straight. She expressed this by saying:
Eventually, they transported me to the hospital as I wasn’t feeling well. An IV was inserted into my arm, and I stayed there for quite some time. They administered morphine to alleviate the pain, but I remained puzzled about my condition. After three hours in the emergency room, a doctor entered and explained, “You have appendicitis, and you’ll require immediate surgery.
It must have been quite a frightening incident for Beverly Ortega, given that she was so far from home in New York. At first, she pondered if it could be food poisoning or perhaps an episode of anxiety, as she had experienced vomiting due to these issues before.
In the wake of my appendicitis diagnosis, I found myself rushed into surgery straight away, with none of my loved ones by my side and unable to reach out to friends or even Grant Ellis during this trying time. As I navigated through this challenging experience, I carried on.
As a movie enthusiast, I couldn’t help but feel deeply disappointed, truly heartbroken. Unfortunately, our goodbye never came, leaving unspoken words hanging between us. I found myself thinking, ‘I hope he didn’t misunderstand why I left,’ you understand?… Despite my desire to stay on set after the surgery, I believe it was wiser for me to return home and focus on healing instead.
Given the relentless shooting schedule of the show The Bachelor, along with the frequent travel and physically taxing outings, it certainly appears that a wise decision for Beverly Ortega would be to abandon her aspirations in reality TV for the moment and head back home… at least temporarily.
This year, “Bachelor in Paradise” is back for Season 10. Beverly Ortega has expressed her readiness to carry on her quest for love on the beach. Given her intense past experience and limited time on “The Bachelor,” it appears that an invitation is well-deserved, doesn’t it? We’ll just have to find out!
At this moment, Grant Ellis’ adventure is just beginning, so don’t miss out! Tune in every Monday at 8 p.m. Eastern Time on ABC, or catch up the following day on Hulu. Enjoy his journey!
