Beats Announces New Powerbeats Pro 2 Earphones with Built-In Heart Rate Monitors In Each Ear

As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to share that after six years since the initial launch of their top-selling sports-oriented earphones, Powerbeats Pro, Beats has finally revealed an eagerly anticipated update – the Powerbeats Pro 2!

The latest Beats earphones underwent a complete overhaul, incorporating more than five years of data and research, along with advancements in technology spearheaded by Apple, their parent company. This results in what Beats refers to as “their most remarkable product ever.

As a devoted Beats fan, I’m thrilled about their latest innovation with the Powerbeats Pro 2. Instead of just another sports earphone, they’ve packed it with cutting-edge features, and one that stands out is real-time heart rate monitoring for athletes. It’s not like any other heart rate monitor; Beats has incorporated technology akin to the Apple Watch, using LED optical sensors that measure blood flow over 100 times per second! Remarkably, these new heart rate monitors in Powerbeats Pro 2 are about 1/16th the size of those in the Apple Watch, yet they function just as effectively. Each earbud sports its own heart rate monitor, but for optimal accuracy, both need to be worn simultaneously.

To make it simple and clear, Powerbeats Pro 2 has formed alliances with top fitness app companies. This means that data about your physical activity can easily be shared. At launch, apps like Peloton, Runna, Nike Run Club, Open, Slopes, Ladder, and YaoYao are compatible, but more may be added later (by the way, where’s Strava?).

Among the enhanced characteristics of the Powerbeats Pro 2 are active noise cancellation (ANC), a feature that has become quite common but was absent in the initial 2019 model. The company claims that the ANC in the Powerbeats Pro 2 surpasses any previous efforts, even those from their premium over-ear headphones, as stated to TopMob. Furthermore, the new earphones boast an extremely sensitive transparency mode, enabling users to engage with their surroundings while using the product, and adaptive EQ that adjusts the sound in real-time to match your environment. Additionally, wireless charging has been integrated for the first time in a Beats case, offering “up to 45 hours of battery life” despite being 33% smaller than its predecessor.

Inside, the latest Powerbeats Pro 2 earphones utilize the same H2 chip as the AirPods Pro 2, making their performance comparable to Apple’s premium earbuds.

In simpler terms, the Powerbeats Pro 2 earbuds are designed to withstand sweat and light water splashes, but they’re not fully waterproof for use in intense water activities.

In a significant update, Beats has designed the earhook on their latest model to be 20% lighter than its predecessor. They’ve reinforced this new earhook with a nickel titanium alloy, which they claim offers “extraordinary flexibility, grip, and comfort.” The brand asserts that it tested the Powerbeats Pro 2 with approximately 1,000 athletes, resulting in their most custom-fit product yet. To cater to diverse preferences, Beats is providing five different sizes of eartips in the box, offering users a wider range of choices than ever before.

The company has unveiled a vibrant collection of new shades, with “Vibrant Electric Orange” catching the eye. Additionally, you’ll find options like “Sleek Jet Black”, “Desert-like Quick Sand”, and “Bold Hyper Purple”.

The latest Powerbeats Pro 2 from Beats can be purchased through their official site and Apple retailers globally, with a price tag of £249.95 GBP or $249.99 USD.
