Anthony Edwards Joins Bose and Culture Jam to Curate Compilation Album

We’re nearly at the point where this year’s NBA All-Star Weekend commences! This time, it’s happening in San Francisco and boasts a star-studded lineup of basketball heavyweights, along with engaging brand events. For Anthony Edwards, he’s set to participate in his third consecutive All-Star Game, while also collaborating with Bose and Culture Jam to debut the lead single from his upcoming album — Culture Jam Presents: Legend In My Hood.

Edwards mirrors NBA legend Kawhi Leonard, who released his seven-track album “Culture Jam (Vol. 1)” in 2021. Like Leonard’s endeavor, Edwards shares co-executive producer credit with Culture Jam founder Eesean Bolden on the project titled “Culture Jam Presents: Legend In My Hood“. This production narrates the tale of two siblings, Anthony and AnTony, also known as bdifferent, who are pursuing careers in basketball and rap. They’ve persevered against adversity by relying on their bond. To kick off this new venture, Anthony is arranging an event during All-Star Weekend with Bose & The h.wood Group, where he will unveil the lead single “Late Bloomer” by bdifferent and Skilla Baby.

Looking forward to the upcoming debut, we had a chance to talk with Anthony Edwards about the significance of music in his life, collaborating with his sibling on this venture, his third consecutive All-Star title, and other interesting topics.

How does music impact basketball for you?

Music and basketball share a strong bond in my life, primarily due to my brother who inspired me to play basketball. I’ve always looked up to him, and his passion for the sport ignited my own. Today, he is an accomplished musician, creating some of the best music around. This connection runs deep within me. It isn’t just personal; the world of basketball is deeply intertwined with music. The rhythm and energy of music help fuel our practice sessions, prepare us for big games, and keep us focused throughout every challenge.

When do you most often listen to music?

Music accompanies me wherever I travel, making it impossible for me to be without my Bose earphones. Whether I’m exercising at the gym, working out, or preparing for a match, they’re always by my side.

How did working on the mixtape start?

I lovingly crafted this project, drawing inspiration from my dear brother. For us, music holds immense significance, and having the opportunity to work on it is incredibly cool. Music has been an unwavering presence in our lives, making it only natural for me to take this step that’s been a delightful journey.

Did you immediately have an idea of how you wanted it to sound?

From the very beginning, I was certain about the musicians who needed to be part of this mix tape. It will encompass a wide range of styles and genres, offering something for everyone’s taste.

How does it feel collaborating with your brother on such a significant project, since he’s featured in the mixtape?

Collaborating with my sibling feels like a long-held dream realized. I’ve always aimed to honor those who have stood by me during my journey, but let me clarify – this isn’t about favoritism. His talent transcends familial ties; his music is exceptional, and it would shine regardless of our relationship. Soon enough, the world will recognize this.

In three words, how would you describe the mixtape?

Heat, heat and (more) heat.

What sort of atmosphere or vibe do you aim to create at your event during the NBA All-Star Weekend, as you’re premiering your lead single there?

I’m really excited to gather everyone for an enjoyable get-together, where we can celebrate my brother, the mixtape, as well as my fellow All-Stars and Bose team members who are helping to make this event a success.

Who is more stylish, rappers or NBA stars?

As a fashion enthusiast, I believe it’s not just about whether a rapper or athlete is donning an outfit; it’s all about the self-assuredness and vibrant energy they exude when wearing it. To me, that’s the essence of personal style.

What’s your feeling about being selected as an All-Star for the third consecutive year, heading into the NBA All-Star Weekend?

It’s fantastic! I feel fortunate to pursue my passion daily, and it’s an honor to receive recognition once more this year.

Keep an eye out! The collaboration between bdifferent and Skilla Baby titled “Late Bloomer” will be released on Valentine’s Day, February 14. Additionally, the entire album “Anthony Edwards’ ‘Culture Jam Presents: Legend In My Hood'” is set to drop this coming spring season.
