Be aware that the following discussion contains spoilers for Episode 12 of Season 2 of the series “Found,” titled “Missing While Misidentified.” To watch this episode, you will need a subscription to the streaming service Peacock.
In the 2025 TV schedule, NBC’s show made a comeback after a week’s absence, with several unresolved plot points to be resolved. Jamie mysteriously appeared to reconnect with Margaret, while both Gabi and Sir ended up in jail thanks to Trent. The central storyline of the week delved into Gabi’s initial imprisonment of Sir in her basement, which brought Shanola Hampton and Mark-Paul Gosselaar together once more in that underground cell. This encounter was so gripping that it made sense why the actors were looking forward to it.
At SCAD TVfest in Atlanta, the cast of “Found” made a grand appearance on the press red carpet. Arlen Escarpeta spoke about the show taking over the slot previously occupied by “Law & Order: Organized Crime“, while Shanola Hampton and Mark-Paul Gosselaar discussed their Critics Choice Award nominations. I seized the moment to inquire from these two stars about the episode that was going to rewind events for Gabi and Sir, and Hampton revealed her thoughts on it.
In my opinion, Episode 12 stands out as the best one we filmed so far. Our showrunner, Sonay Hoffman, crafted an exceptional script packed with depth and intensity. It’s a complex tapestry of events, requiring careful balance to bring the story to life. I believe viewers will appreciate getting to explore the origins of this tale as much as I did while shooting it. I can hardly wait for you all to see it!
At TVfest, I hadn’t watched “Missing While Misidentified” prior to our conversation with Hampton, but she was eager in promoting the episode as her favorite to film so far. The character Gabi faced challenges dealing with panic attacks and Sir beginning psychological manipulations shortly after being confined in a basement dungeon, but not the main character. Mark-Paul Gosselaar also concurred that it’s an excellent episode, describing it as “very intense.
Indeed, stepping back into the underground lair brings some challenging scenarios for Gosselaar as Sir. In many episodes of “Missing While Misidentified,” he was silenced, forced to act without uttering a word. So, one may wonder about the experience of the “Saved by the Bell” veteran revisiting that dungeon, following Sir’s escape at the end of Season 1. I had the chance to ask this question, and Gosselaar shared his thoughts:
It feels strange, but it seems like whenever we return to that place, it’s almost guaranteed that it will just be you and me, and we’ll establish a strong connection. That location is where some fantastic collaborations occur, so I always look forward to going back.
The episode concluded with Sir being arrested and taken into police custody, meaning that Mark-Paul Gosselaar likely won’t return to the basement dungeon anytime soon unless the show continues with flashbacks. However, the unexpected turns at the end of the hour hint that he may still have a few surprises up his sleeve. He skillfully handled the accusations against Gabi by choosing not to provide a statement that would incriminate her, which allowed Gabi to reunite with the rest of the M&A team, including a teen who could potentially be Jamie, before the credits finished rolling.
Indeed, we’re referring to Sir here. Gabi noted that his actions weren’t prompted by benevolence, and the story concluded with a close-up of Sir in his cell, as a chilling rendition of “Obsession” by Animotion played in the background. It remains unclear how Found will continue to involve Sir now that he’s incarcerated, and I’m intrigued to learn more about the boy whom Margaret at least suspects is Jamie.
Tune in to NBC every Thursday night at 10 p.m. Eastern Time, as new episodes of Found air after Law & Order: SVU. The actors’ enthusiasm for Episode 12 suggests that the show’s intensity won’t be decreasing, so it might not be wise to skip any upcoming episodes.
