As a movie connoisseur, I must confess that my admiration for “Cobra Kai” has evolved throughout my viewing experience. Initially, it was a resounding yes, but as the seasons progressed, my affection for the series took on a new dimension.
Allow me to clarify: I’m quite fond of the Karate Kid films and have been following Cobra Kai for quite some time. Since the last part of season five (the final one) is set to air on Netflix in 2025, it was inevitable that I would watch the entire series ahead of the grand finale.
Indeed, the show is quite entertaining. To be frank, it’s been some time since I last watched the initial episodes, but I still found them enjoyable. However, what truly captivated me this time was finding a connection with a character that, surprisingly, I hadn’t anticipated. Consequently, I felt compelled to discuss this intriguing experience.
When I First Watched The Show, I Was Here For The Drama
When Cobra Kai first came out, I was still in college, which is hard to believe at this point.
Indeed, I was drawn here by the drama. My fascination remains, yet the initial seasons stirred me deeply due to a sense of continuous drama unfolding at each moment.
Initially, adversaries became unwilling partners, then reverted back to old hostilities, with more antagonistic figures emerging. High school students kept changing partners every season, leading to a continuous cycle of relationship upheavals – essentially creating a never-ending soap opera.
(The goal is to maintain the original meaning while making it sound more conversational and engaging.)
The show is so captivating for me, not shockingly so, as it’s an exceptional series and one of the top picks on Netflix. What truly hooks me, though, is its dramatic elements, which I acknowledge. However, there’s a particular character within the storyline that I have developed a unique affinity for, and I feel compelled to discuss.

But Now, I’m With Amanda LaRusso – Why Is Everyone Fighting About EVERYTHING?
Yeah, I’m sorry. Can we all take a breather?
I recall the moment I initially watched the show, and I found myself laughing at her responses to various situations. Yet, I’d often think, “She seems clueless. That’s just how rivalries unfold. It’s only natural for everyone to get so worked up.
Now, I totally agree with her. In more ways than one.
On this series, there are numerous instances where I find myself questioning how things didn’t end up getting damaged more often. For instance, Amanda frequently points out that such situations shouldn’t run so deep, and honestly, they really shouldn’t. To illustrate, consider the Season 3 finale when all the children were fighting in the house – that incident certainly shouldn’t have occurred.
Like, at all.
In all honesty, regardless of how one chooses to rephrase it, by the film’s conclusion, I found myself utterly baffled. The youngsters were literally tearing apart priceless belongings, all for something as mundane as… Karate? It left me questioning the narrative’s logic and coherence.
Apologies, but striving to be the lone dojo in the Valley shouldn’t be such a relentless endeavor. While I understand that it adds an element of drama, I find myself aligning with Amanda’s perspective. At some juncture, when is enough, enough? When can everyone just put aside their differences and cease the fighting? It’s overwhelming, and honestly, I’m amazed that more individuals didn’t sustain serious injuries, like Miguel in Season 2.

The Karate Fights Are Still Fun, But Everything Could Have Been Solved Differently
It’s not that I’m suggesting a show like karate shouldn’t include fights – clearly, it needs them. We’re discussing Cobra Kai here, after all. In fact, I’ve even compiled a list of my favorite fight scenes from Cobra Kai, and I appreciate the skillful choreography in each one.
I’m excited to be among the first to watch the upcoming “Karate Kid” film, set for release at the end of this year according to the 2025 movie lineup. In fact, I recently inquired about his feelings towards this series from Ralph Macchio himself, as I hold it in high regard.
But, there’s fighting…and then there’s too much.
Towards the end of the series, instead of physical fights, certain disputes were settled through dialogue – a development that I found quite satisfying. After all, it’s more fulfilling to witness growth and resolution among characters, rather than just watching middle-aged men engage in lengthy brawls until they’re on the brink of collapse.
Regardless, the notion that the majority of conflicts depicted in this series have led to battles that have tragically ended countless lives is questionable. I’m not against a healthy debate, but let’s try to maintain some decorum, shall we? Before it escalates any further, can we kindly strive for a more civil discourse to prevent any loss of life?
To put it frankly, I find myself playing the role of a dissenter, yet it was important for me to voice my thoughts. It’s likely that others may have differing viewpoints (including Amanda). Nevertheless, I’ve shared my perspective, and now I can happily continue watching this series without any reservations.
