Mindy Kaling Comedy ‘Not Suitable for Work’ Lands Series Pickup at Hulu

Mindy Kaling is adding another series to her portfolio.

Hulu has greenlit the production of “Not Suitable for Work,” a humorous series centered around the lives of young professionals in New York City. This project had been in development since April 2024, initially known as “Murray Hill,” under the Disney-owned streaming platform with a guaranteed series order based on the script.

Produced by Kaling, the comedy series titled “Not Suitable for Work” focuses on a group of five ambitious young adults in their twenties, all vying for professional success and personal contentment amidst Manhattan’s fashionable district, Murray Hill, as described in the show’s outline. At this point, the cast has yet to be revealed.

Approximately a week has passed since the release of content labeled “Not Suitable for Work,” and shortly afterward, Kaling’s new series, “Running Point,” will premiere on Netflix. On the other hand, we are still waiting to hear if Max’s show, “The Sex Lives of College Girls,” will continue for a fourth season.

Warner Bros. Television, where Kaling holds a comprehensive agreement, is responsible for the production of “Not Suitable for Work“. Kaling is involved in both scriptwriting and executive production on this project, collaborating with her long-time partner Charlie Grandy (known for his work on “The Mindy Project” and “The Sex Lives of College Girls“) who will serve as the showrunner. Additionally, Howard Klein from 3 Arts Entertainment is also involved. Similarly, Grandy has a comprehensive agreement with Warner Bros. Television.

Our show is set to team up with a selection of comedic titles on Hulu, which currently features shows like “Only Murders in the Building,” “Futurama,” and upcoming series such as “The Deli Boys,” “Chad Powers,” “Mid-Century Modern,” and the revival of “King of the Hill.
