Marvel Rivals’ Latest Balance Update Nerfs the Triple Support Meta

In the upcoming adjustments for Season 1’s second half, Marvel Rivals bids farewell to the troublesome triple support meta, as well as excessively effective tanks such as Magneto and Doctor Strange, aiming to provide a more balanced gameplay experience.

In their most recent developer post, NetEase shared numerous fresh insights regarding the upcoming game update. This includes the addition of the final two Fantastic Four characters – The Human Torch and The Thing – along with a completely new Midtown map. In this map, players will engage in a daring rescue mission to free Ratatoskr from Dracula’s castle.

The primary emphasis of the changes to the balance lies in the three-point stance meta. Consequently, encounters between characters like Cloak & Dagger and Luna Snow will occur less frequently due to an increase in their Ultimate costs, which reduces their defensive abilities and slows down their progression rates.

This implies that Luna Snow will reduce her dancing moves significantly, while Cloak & Dagger might have a harder time creating their light-and-dark interplay on the battlefield. For main players of Vanguard, this could be good news, but it’s important to note that even with the support adjustments, Vanguards aren’t completely immune to the update’s effects.

In simpler terms, both Magneto and Doctor Strange will experience adjustments that reduce their durability. Although we don’t know exactly which aspects of their abilities will change, this might mean extended shield recharge times for Magneto or a smaller health reserve for Doctor Strange. The intention behind these changes is to provide opportunities for other tanks to excel and diversify the gameplay dynamics.

Venom, on the contrary, won’t be affected by the adjustments (nerfs). Instead, his Ultimate ability will get a boost, lowering its cost and speeding up its charge rate. This enhancement makes him even more formidable as a frontline character, especially with The Thing joining the fray. Both characters promise to be powerful additions to our team.

Notable adjustments have been made to characters like Storm and Moon Knight, which may decrease their ability to deal damage – specifically addressing the issue of Moon Knight’s Khonshu ultimate being buggy.

The latter part of Season 1 is almost upon us! Although NetEase hasn’t given an exact release date yet, it looks like the update might be coming to life as soon as the following week.

Over the next few days, Marvel in collaboration with NetEase plans to unveil two upcoming characters – The Human Torch and The Thing, as well as their antagonistic alternate costumes reminiscent of Mr. Fantastic and The Invisible Woman.
