Currently, Jaaved Jaaferi is eagerly anticipating the debut of his forthcoming web series titled “Oops Ab Kya.” Not long ago, this seasoned actor expressed his thoughts on the significance of maintaining a strong social media presence. He used Salman Khan and Urvashi Rautela as examples to highlight that it’s the film trailer, rather than the number of followers, which attracts viewers to cinemas.
In conversation with Humans of Bombay, Jaaved Jaaferi expressed his skepticism regarding the idea that having numerous social media followers automatically makes someone a star. He believes that while such platforms can provide an initial boost, it remains unclear if massive follower counts equate to ticket sales.
He pointed out, “Just because Urvashi Rautela has 70 million followers on social media, it doesn’t automatically mean those followers will buy movie tickets. If we assume that 10 million of her followers were to purchase film tickets at Rs 250 each, the total box office collection would amount to Rs 100 crores. However, this isn’t how it typically works.
Jaaferi contended that a movie’s advertisement doesn’t automatically lead to success. Instead, he emphasized that it is primarily the film’s trailer that attracts viewers to cinemas. In his opinion, the trailer must be given more emphasis. If someone enjoys the trailer, they will go see the movie regardless of whether the actor appears on a TV show or dance program.
In simpler terms, the actor who played in the Oops Ab Kya movie gave an example of the highly acclaimed actor Rajinikanth from the South film industry to support his argument. He emphasized that despite not participating in promotions, if a movie is good, it will succeed at the box office. Additionally, he pointed out that even stars can’t always guarantee a fantastic opening, as sometimes audiences may still choose to watch them, but ultimately the quality of the film determines its success.
A movie produced by Salman Khan might earn between 10 and 50 crores on its opening day, depending on audience response to the trailer. However, not every Salman Khan film manages a 50-crore opening; it’s the impact of the trailer that makes a difference,” he explained to clarify his viewpoint.
Oops Ab Kya is streaming now on JioHotstar.
