Currently, Saba Azad is reveling in the debut of her crime-thriller series, “Crime Beat,” alongside Saqib Saleem. The selective actress has recently opened up about her connection with social media platforms. She also expressed that having a substantial following on these platforms can influence one’s chances of landing roles in projects, whether or not they are passionate about acting.
In conversation with Money Control, Saba Azad openly acknowledged, “I have a complex feeling towards social media – I both love and dislike it.” She also confessed her struggle with managing it effectively, revealing instances where she might post multiple times in three consecutive days, only to go without posting for two months at a stretch.
The actress similarly pointed out that social media is an amazing platform for obtaining genuine news updates. She underscored the fact that our world has become more connected, enabling anyone to view global events directly on their mobile devices, a convenience that was previously unavailable.
In expressing her opinion, the actress from the Crime Beat show highlighted that real life isn’t equivalent to social media, also acknowledging both its advantages and disadvantages.
In essence, she pointed out that individuals are sometimes selected for acting roles based on their follower count, regardless of whether they’ve ever acted before. This trend is increasingly popular due to the appeal of social media. People say things like, “Let’s cast this person” or “They’re getting jobs through social media.” She herself has received brand work via social media. Thus, there are certainly advantages and disadvantages to this phenomenon.
Saba emphasized the importance of understanding that social media does not replace real life, and it’s crucial to focus on living authentically off-screen as well. In other words, while social media might show a “reel” version of life, it is essential to engage with the genuine, tangible experiences of the actual world to maintain balance. She concluded by suggesting that if you remember this distinction, you’ll be able to navigate through life just fine.
Crime Beat, a gripping crime thriller, is helmed by directors Sudhir Mishra and Sanjeev Kaul. In the star-studded cast, we find Saqib Saleem, Ranvir Shorey, Sai Tamhankar, Danish Hussain, Rahul Bhat, Rajesh Tailang, Addinath Kothare, Saba Azad, among others, in significant roles. This enthralling series began streaming on February 21, 2025, and can now be watched on Zee 5.
