OMG, you guys! Bybit just got hacked and lost a whopping $1.5 billion in crypto funds. Yikes! 😱
But don’t worry, CZ (AKA Changpeng Zhao, founder of Binance) is here to save the day! He’s suggested that Bybit should temporarily halt withdrawals to prevent any further damage. 🚨
Apparently, some hacker took control of one of Bybit’s Ethereum cold wallets and transferred all the ETH to an unidentified address. 😲 According to Web3 analytics firms, the hackers made off with over 401,346 ETH tokens worth over $1.1 billion in value, along with other assets. 💸
Bybit CEO Ben Zhou confirmed the incident on X, and CZ was quick to offer his assistance. He said, “Not an easy situation to deal with. Might suggest to halt all withdrawals for a bit as a standard security precaution. Will provide any assistance if needed. Good luck!” 🙏
“1.5 billion is fear enough. Better to be safe than sorry now.” 😌
Meanwhile, the community is speculating that the Pi community might be behind this hack. Why? Well, Bybit CEO Ben Zhou recently refused to list Pi coin on Bybit due to legitimacy concerns, and he even called Pi a pyramid scheme. 🤔
So, stay tuned for more updates on this thrilling crypto drama! 🍿
