- Castle V Castle is an upcoming card-battling puzzler
- It’s been funded by indie orgs such as Outersloth
- And it’s set to hit mobile sometime later this year!
In terms of card battlers, simplicity often proves more appealing than intricate complexity. While games like Yu-Gi-Oh! and Magic: The Gathering offer an enjoyable experience due to their complex rule systems, there are times when one yearns for a streamlined, easy-to-understand approach that maintains a swift pace. This is exactly what the newly-unveiled Castle V Castle seems to offer – a straightforward, uncomplicated gaming experience.
As a gamer, I’d say Castle V Castle has an IKEA-esque aesthetic vibe. With its minimalistic black-and-white design, it effortlessly exudes charm and humor from the snippets we’ve seen in the trailer. The walking sign that flashes “The End is Nigh” when you’re about to lose, then changes to “Never Mind” if you manage a comeback, is a delightful touch that adds an extra layer of wit to this game.
In terms of gameplay, Castle V Castle stands out as one of those unique instances where visual understanding suffices for comprehension. Essentially, it’s a card battler in which the primary goal is to demolish your adversary’s castle while preserving your own. To achieve this, you’ll employ cards that expand your castle, reduce your opponent’s, or concoct various unusual and extraordinary combinations to maintain the game’s momentum.
Demolition man
This encompasses cards that perform various functions, such as reversing an attack or obstructing a card, and so on. It’s clear to me that when Castle V Castle launches on mobile, it will quickly become a beloved game for many players, and I must admit that even the trailer alone piqued my interest significantly.
Supported by independent group Outersloth and former Slay the Spire team member Casey Yano, there’s a palpable excitement within the developer community about Castle V Castle. Therefore, stay tuned as we’ll be announcing its release date on mobile platforms soon.
