At the eve of its grand finale event on Sunday, Vanity Fair collaborated with Instagram to celebrate Young Hollywood ahead of time, on Wednesday. The hosts for this special evening were Aaron Pierre, Anna Sawai from Shogun, Keke Palmer, and Monica Barbaro, who was nominated for an Oscar in A Complete Unknown.

Outside Bar Marmont’s red carpet, Palmer shared with The Hollywood Reporter that she wasn’t sure about her party schedule during Oscar weekend because “a couple of years ago at this time I wasn’t a mom, but now I am. As much as I want to be with my baby, I’m also looking forward to celebrating everyone – friends, colleagues. It promises to be an incredible weekend.

At this dimly-lit and atmospheric gathering, the hosts had their own secluded spot where they mingled amidst a galaxy of stars. The venue offered designated zones for socializing, imbibing, relaxing with cigarettes, and dancing near the DJ station. Yellowjackets’ cast members Samantha Hanratty, Sophie Nélisse, Courtney Eaton, and Liv Hewson kept the dance floor lively. This event brought together a group of young talent from various shows such as Outer Banks, Cobra Kai, Euphoria, and the upcoming Warfare. Couples also graced the occasion, with Lili Reinhart and her boyfriend Jack Martin, Benito Skinner and Terrence O’Connor, and Cooper Raiff and Addison Timlin sharing the evening together.

Presented: A vibrant assortment of salads, vegetables, roasted salmon and smoked duck breast, artfully arranged by renowned chef and author Jane Coxwell. Alana Jones-Mann designed unique cakes adorned with DVF vintage patterns, while a coffee station was available as well.

At Dish: For the second time, designer Diane von Furstenberg graciously welcomed this year’s female Oscar nominees into her home on a sunny Wednesday, hosting an event alongside Ava DuVernay, Donna Langley, and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. As soon as they arrived, guests were warmly greeted with a large display of all the women nominated for Oscars this year. Each nominee was invited to sign their name next to it.

Following some socializing, the gathering transitioned outside for lunch, during which von Furstenberg highlighted that many people are familiar with the nominee actresses, but fewer recognize the women working behind the scenes in Hollywood. “Today is all about acknowledging one another and fostering connections,” the designer expressed, adding that she’s witnessed numerous instances where meaningful relationships have been forged at such events. She also praised her co-hosts as “three powerful, bold women who are my friends and get things done,” before announcing this year’s nominees, prompting applause from the audience.

The week is packed with various activities, and on Sunday, if you choose to attend, you’ll be in a gathering filled with diverse individuals. However, there’s an extraordinary joy when you’re surrounded by people who feel like kin, like a community; there seems to be something more profound when you can gaze at someone and recognize a sister. Unfortunately, we often find ourselves in places where it’s challenging to locate each other or where there are only a few of us, as DuVernay pointed out the importance of events such as this luncheon. Langley concurred, “This is a lovely event, but it’s deliberate and it’s purposeful, and that’s how Diane lives her life. She serves as a tremendous inspiration to me.” Following the speeches, Dove Cameron performed for a brief period while networking persisted.

Interestingly enough, one of the nominations we were celebrating is a project I’m personally involved with – as a producer of the Oscar-nominated short film, Anuja.
