As a devoted follower of Kanya’s fishing quests, I found myself embarking on one final challenge in the Scarlet Forest Base Camp – the culmination of my long-awaited journey. To reach this point, I had to successfully complete each and every one of her previous quests: ‘Seeking The Goldenfish’, ‘Fishing For Flavour’, and ‘The Catch Of A Lifetime’. With those tasks behind me, I returned to Kanya one last time, eagerly awaiting the reward she had prepared – the coveted Razzle Dazzle.

This time around, we are seeking a special kind of fish called Grand Escunite, not the common variety, but the much less frequent Grand edition. Catching these won’t require a battle, but the real challenge lies in locating them and getting them hooked initially.

Best Areas To Find A Grand Escunite

Similar to several fishing expeditions led by Kanya, the Scarlet Forest stands out as an ideal location for tracking down the elusive Grand Escunite. Unlike most fish we’ve previously caught, Escunites seem to favor the dampness and darkness of caves. Consequently, the cave nestled near the Wudwud Hideout in Area 12 becomes one of the top spots to search for them. This secluded spot is tucked behind the waterfall here.

As a gamer, even during the Downpour or the Fallow when fish seem elusive and hard to spot, I’ve found that the bodies of water within caves remain unaffected by such weather conditions.

Escunites and their larger counterparts, the Grand Escunites, share similar features but differ in coloration. Typical Escunites display a green-yellow hue on both their shells and tentacles, whereas the Grand ones exhibit a more iridescent luster. Beyond this difference, they share the same design and roughly equivalent size. The Grand Escunite is often more noticeable in water, making them easier to identify.

An exception to their location is that they can occasionally be found not just in caves, but also in the vast expanse of Area 17 within the ocean, particularly during active Feeding Circles.

Best Bait To Use For A Grand Escunite

In this particular mission, Kanya provides you with an additional kind of lure – Tentacle Jigs. These lures are particularly effective at enticing creatures with tentacles, and such creatures are primarily Escunites. Hence, it’s safe to say that this is the most efficient bait for your needs.

It’s possible, though challenging, to catch a Grand Escunite using a Common Wood Minnow as bait.

Just like some less common species of fish, Grand Escunites are prone to being spooked if you rush when they’re nearby. Instead, gently draw in your line as you approach them.
