Ah, China—land of dragons and dumplings, and now, apparently, a delightful little thing called Manus! Yes, the race for AI supremacy just became frightfully amusing, as Monica, a plucky Chinese startup, wheels out its brainchild. Manus, darling, isn’t merely your run-of-the-mill digital assistant. No, no. Xiao Hong and her merry band of ex-Google and Tencent artists—pardon me, technologists—would have you believe it’s a Swiss Army knife for life itself. How droll!
Monica claims that “Manus bridges minds and actions.” Which, of course, sounds rather like the sort of thing one says after a martini too many. But do go on! Apparently, Manus will handle everything from planning your holiday to analyzing stock portfolios, and possibly even walking your dog—if AI ever learns to work leashes.
Peak Ji Yichao, a young firecracker of 33 and co-founder of Monica, recently shared an exhilarating (or exhausting?) four-minute video on the platform formerly known as Twitter. Yes, dear reader, X—where else? In it, Manus frolicked through websites, gathered data, and even whipped up a school circular. Thrilling stuff. Teachers everywhere, rejoice! Though I suspect some may secretly clutch their red pens a little tighter.
Important Notice Regarding Manus’s X Account Suspension
Our official X account (@ManusAI_HQ) was unexpectedly suspended yesterday. We’re actively working with X’s support team to resolve this matter. Preliminary observations suggest the suspension might relate to third-party…

Oh, calamity! Manus’s moment in the limelight briefly interrupted by suspension woes—likely some sort of “digital whoopsie” involving third parties. But chin up, Monica team! These hiccups must be endured when one’s AI is touted to outshine OpenAI’s Deep Research. Bold, isn’t it?
Manus, however, isn’t all roses and jazz hands. It works on an invite-only basis for now, with hiccups that include server tantrums and an amusing habit of not finishing what it starts. Much like some of us pre-coffee. No public release date has been whispered as yet, which discourages only those not already under the spell of its ambitions.
So there you have it, darlings. Manus: a marvel of engineering or just another cog in the endless AI machine? Perhaps we shall know when it finally decides to leave its private spa session of a preview. Until then, stockpile those resumes—it may soon summarize us out of a job. 😉
