Last weekend, Marvel Rivals introduced their latest game mode called Clone Rumble, which has been keeping many gamers engaged as they explore and push the boundaries of various characters.
In the midst of assembling teams consisting of Punishers and Iron Men, it’s worth noting that certain heroes are excluded from participating in the Clone Rumble mode, and there’s a valid explanation behind this exclusion.
Which Heroes Are Banned in Clone Rumble?
It appears that certain characters, known as heroes, have been prohibited from participating in the Clone Rumble mode due to the potential disruption they could cause if too many are present at once. These restricted heroes consist of:
- Adam Warlock
- Cloak and Dagger
- Doctor Strange
- Invisible Woman
- Loki
- Luna Snow
It’s noteworthy that many of the prohibited characters are Strategy-type heroes, and some believe they were excluded due to their ultimate abilities potentially making it excessively challenging to defeat opponents, ultimately leading to an extended, less enjoyable gaming experience.
In addition to the issue with the ultimate ability, another concern is certain character abilities that put a heavy strain on the game. For instance, Doctor Strange’s portal function works smoothly when there are only a few on the map, but if an overwhelming number of Strange’s create numerous portals, it could potentially overload the system to ensure proper game performance.
Additionally, there’s the scenario where Loki is able to create duplicates within the game. The maximum number of these Lokis that can be active on a map at once is 36, with some speculating that managing all these duplicates running simultaneously might require substantial processing power.
How Are Fans Taking the Ban?
Indeed, quite a few enthusiasts felt let down upon discovering certain characters wouldn’t be playable in the new game mode, as they had anticipated conducting their theoretical tests once it became available.
To put it simply, I’d guess NetEase had thoroughly tested this new game mode, playing it countless times before deciding which characters to restrict. It’s fortunate for us players that they squashed those bugs early on, sparing us from the potential surprise of our systems getting overloaded without warning.
Perhaps they could consider restricting abilities rather than entire characters in Clone Rumble, although this might involve extra effort and potentially undermine the game’s primary objective of having fun. Maintaining balance has never been a priority, but there are certain elements that the developers likely understand would be more irritating than enjoyable.
Season 1 is Winding Down

2025 marked the beginning of Marvel Rivals’ first season, and now the developers are planning to wrap up this season in order to prepare for the next one. As of now, no details about Season 2 have been disclosed, but there are whispers that it will heavily feature mutants, with several mutant characters rumored to make an appearance along with a playable X-Mansion map.
Pending any formal announcement from NetEase, the only course of action for fans is to remain patient. Here’s hoping that the long-awaited arrivals of Ultron and Blade become a reality soon, as the leaks have been quite thorough, leaving fans on the brink of excitement.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that Marvel Rivals can be played on the Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC platforms. Mark your calendars, because the first season is wrapping up on April 11th!
