has been teasing a lot more to come from Netflix’s hit series
, hinting at Season 3 already being worked on before Season 2 has even aired. While the actress is mostly in the dark about whether
will or won’t be renewing the show for another round of episodes, she believes that there is always an eye on what comes next for the series.
Wednesday landed on Netflix in 2022, and it has been a long three-year wait for Season 2. While there is currently no set date for the new episodes’ arrival, with Stranger Things Season 5 expected to dominate October and November, many believe that the show will probably not land until December, which almost mirrors the November 2022 release of the first season.
When asked about the potential for Season 3 to be given the go ahead, Ortega told Collider:
“We haven’t gotten an official thumbs up or anything like that, but I know that the writers are… With a show like that, you kind of want to get ahead of the game. So, I think that they’re kind of messing around and throwing out ideas.”
Currently, Season 2 is still in post-production, and even though filming on the series has been wrapped for quite some time now, Ortega noted that the work isn’t over until the final product hits screens. She added:
“We’re still in the edit. I was doing ADR for it two weeks ago. That’s the funny thing about these jobs is you’re done, you wrap, but you’re not really done. So, I’ll probably be working on it until the end.”
Jenna Ortega Has Strong Feelings About Protecting Wednesday
Back in September, Jenna Ortega made several comments that appeared to criticize the writing team behind Netflix’s juggernaut series, noting how she was forced to become “unprofessional” in order to make sure that the scripts stayed true to the character. After explaining that there were times she would make changes to the dialogue in certain scenes without telling anyone until they were filming.
However, in subsequent interviews, Ortega suggested that she had “not used her words as well as she could have,” and writers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar revealed that they had no ill-feelings about the comments as they were all working towards the same goal. Millar said at the time:
“We work with Jenna very closely on the show. We obviously worked with her on Beetlejuice. It’s always an incredibly collaborative and joyful experience. We couldn’t be prouder of her work and we’ve embraced her as a producer on the show this year. She is one of the hardest working, most talented young actresses in the business, and we are very lucky and feel very proud that she’s working with us. So it is what it is. A show of this size and this scale is always going to have people chattering. But it’s not our reality or her reality.”
Fans will have a little longer to wait to see Wednesday return to Netflix, but the first season is still waiting to be revisited in the meantime.
