Jamie Foxx’s Chilling Pre-Death Chat Will Leave You Speechless!

Jamie Foxx talked a lot about his recent near-death experience in his Netflix special What Had Happened Was, but the one thing he didn’t mention was an “eerie” conversation he had with his people right before he nearly died back in 2023. Fox suffered a brain bleed that led to a stroke whilst in the midst of shooting Back in Action alongside Cameron Diaz, and at the time, no one was sure that the celebrated actor and comedian would pull through.

Speaking with People while promoting the Apple TV+ documentary Number One on the Call Sheet, Foxx revealed the conversation he had with those in his inner circle before he experienced the medical emergency back in April 2023, which left him hospitalized for 20 days. He subsequently faced months of rehab, which saw him having to learn to walk all over again.

I was having a chat with those who manage my affairs when they unexpectedly brought up the topic, ‘Should we go over some documents just in case something unexpected occurs?’ I found it strange since nothing seemed amiss at that moment. But, lo and behold, it happened.

Foxx received an outpouring of support following his hospitalization, with many of his peers sharing their thoughts and prayers with the Academy Award-winning actor, which he says aided in his recovery. “When it happened, the amount of love that was poured, the amount of people that reached out, really meant something. When I was talking to [God], he said, ‘Hey man, I’m gonna give you the second chance — what you gonna do with it?'”

Jamie Foxx Envisioned His Death to Be Much Different

Thankfully, Foxx has been able to make a full recovery and is back to work, and serves as a producer on the new Apple TV+ documentary, which celebrates the contributions Black leading men and women have had in Hollywood over the years. That being said, he did mention that when it came to his death, he envisioned things to be a lot more dramatic than a stroke, referencing the 1988 crime film Colors, which featured Don Cheadle in one of his early roles.

“I used to watch the movie Colors, when they had a shootout … I thought I was gonna go out like Rocket (Don Cheadle), like go out in a shootout in the mall or something. I didn’t think I was just gonna go out asking for an aspirin.”

No one really thinks they’re going to go out that way, but things have a way of sneaking up on you when you least expect it. Foxx, of course, didn’t go out “asking for an aspirin,” and hopefully has a lot of years left with us before he shrugs off this mortal coil. While his latest film, Back in Action was a critical flop, he’ll be at it again in the sports comedy All-Star Weekend later this year, and in the upcoming thriller Tin Soldier. Directed by Brad Furman, he’ll appear alongside the likes of Robert De Niro, Scott Eastwood, and John Leguizamo. The film is currently in post-production, so no release date has been set. In the meantime, catch Back in Action streaming now on Netflix.
