AI Revolutionizes Goliath’s Origin in Amazon’s ‘House of David’ – Shocking Behind-the-Scenes!

The House of David, which is Amazon Prime Video’s fresh interpretation of a biblical saga, concentrates on the ascension of the legendary figure, David, and unfolds in ancient Israel around 1000 BC. The show has received mixed reviews from critics, but it’s been a captivating spectacle for viewers, amassing an impressive 22 million viewers within its first 17 days on air. This blockbuster production has proven to be a success for the streaming platform, yet a surprising disclosure made by some fans in the most recent episode could potentially deter some from enjoying the hit series.

In the initial scenes of the sixth episode from the first season of House of David, we get a detailed backstory about Goliath. This introduction shows a massive man with wings, encountering a woman. The size is unprecedented compared to anything the series has previously showcased, even for a production on Amazon Prime Video. Jon Erwin, the creator of the show, has disclosed that AI played a significant role in keeping costs down and making it possible to produce such an ambitious opening, which might have been too expensive if they had employed artists to create it instead.

The whole scenario is fueled by advanced AI generative tools, serving as its engine. Our findings indicate that these tools are effective when employed alongside conventional tools. With approval granted to utilize this technology, we assembled a team around it, and decided to fully leverage it.

In their production process, they employed AI programs like Midjourney, Magnific, Topaz, Runway, and Kling, in addition to common VFX tools such as Adobe After Effects. Notably, House of David didn’t limit its use of AI to just episode 6; the entire first season incorporated a total of 72 shots that were aided by these AI tools. To clarify, the co-showrunner mentioned they based their AI generation on imagery specifically created for the series.

Each one possesses distinct advantages. To avoid creating new visuals, I intend to use elements from my existing series. This way, I can kick-start the process with pictures or items derived from my show, which are under our ownership.

You’ll find the mentioned scene of Goliath from the X post further down. Please be aware that the artificial intelligence used there might give you a strange feeling (it left us feeling uneasy).

Despite Fierce Opposition, AI Continues To Spread Its Influence Across the Industry

Although many parts of Hollywood are resistant to using artificial intelligence in films and television, this hasn’t stopped big studios from embracing the new technology as a way to save money and boost profits. For instance, Marvel Studios have already employed it for the contentious intro sequence of Samuel L. Jackson’s Disney+ series, Secret Invasion. In fact, Disney has been planning to incorporate AI into their processes for quite some time now, whether it’s for internal or external applications. Meanwhile, viewers are becoming increasingly aware of minor uses of AI in selected projects, such as the series Late Night With the Devil and the Oscar-nominated film The Brutalist.

The recent update in the AI sphere is that AMC Theatres have sealed a deal to showcase a Swedish UFO comedy in the US with an AI-generated English dub. This isn’t the first instance where AI has been employed for translation or altering visuals to match different languages spoken by actors. Yet, it might be the most prominent application of such technology on the big screen so far.
