It seems like it was ages past, in a distant star-studded galaxy where we last encountered Luke Skywalker. Though there’s still hope for future Star Wars films to reintroduce Mark Hamill’s legendary character within the Lucasfilm universe, he hasn’t physically appeared since “The Book of Boba Fett”. However, that is all set to change as Disneyland introduces Luke Skywalker at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – a performer who exudes an aura reminiscent of a benevolent Kylo Ren.
From today, this Jedi (similar to his relative before him, depending on your view of the resemblance) will be present to join in the festivities for Star Wars: Season of the Force, an event that concludes on May 11th. This news was revealed in a fascinating announcement video, which you can watch below:
It’s quite striking that this young individual appears to be even younger than Mark Hamill was during the Original Trilogy period. This isn’t intended as criticism towards anyone making comparisons, but rather a simple observation. For clarity, here’s a side-by-side comparison of the Disneyland cast member, along with images of Mark Hamill and Adam Driver:

Ignoring some of the harsh comments on social media, I believe that the portrayal of young Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge strikes a balance between the humble Tatooine farm boy and the powerful, sometimes power-hungry nephew from the Sequel Trilogy. However, it’s worth noting that the criticism about Luke not being blonde loses its impact when you consider Mark Hamill’s hair color from his 1983 appearance.
Speaking as a movie enthusiast, the Kylo Ren vibe I sense from our new park-goer is due to his youthful demeanor, a trait some folks online have commented on. However, merely noticing that doesn’t mean I’m dismissing him before he gets a chance to leave a lasting impression.

Considering the Disney Plus and Hulu Bundle deal for just $10.99 per month might be more appealing than joking about your household’s Luke Skywalker. If you aren’t already in possession of this Master Luke, subscribing to this bundle could help rectify that situation! For a mere $10.99, you can gain access to these platforms, but for an additional $8.99 per month, you’ll enjoy ad-free viewing on both, making your entertainment experience truly exceptional. Check out the deal here!
From my own encounter with Universal Studios Florida’s costumed characters, I can confidently say that the essence of the performance carries more weight than physical resemblance. For instance, during my last trip to Orlando, the individual portraying Doc Brown didn’t bear much likeness to Christopher Lloyd. However, he was so well versed in the character that we shared jokes about meeting again in the past, which brought a smile to my face.
Looking forward to checking out the initial videos of Luke Skywalker navigating through Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on social media. It’s intriguing since there’s a chance Mark Hamill might add his signature touch, making it a heartwarming message that underscores for this talented actor that the Force continues to be with them.
In due time, hopefully all debates can cease and we can shift our focus back to matters of real significance, such as the question hanging in the air – will Rogue Squadron ever materialize? However, if you yearn for an encounter with Luke Skywalker at the Star Wars: Season of the Force event, make haste to the Disneyland Resort before May 11th and embrace your destiny!
