Meet actor who is son of legendary star, worked as AD, debuted with Anushka Sharma’s film, faced social media trolls and is now winning hearts for…

Today we shine the light on an up-and-coming actor who follows in the footsteps of his renowned father, one of the greatest talents in Indian cinema: Babil Khan, son of the late Irrfan Khan and successful screenwriter-producer Sutapa Sikdar, is carving out a niche for himself in Bollywood.

I hail from Mumbai, born on May 15, 1998, and my educational odyssey commenced at Tridha School. Subsequently, I ventured to the University of Westminster in London for further studies. With unwavering commitment and a burning passion, I am carving out a unique niche for myself within the entertainment industry, striving to make it a reflection of my individuality.

As I reflect upon my own experiences, I can’t help but share a personal anecdote about my time at the University of Westminster in London. Much like many students, I found myself grappling with financial difficulties, living frugally on a meager allowance.

Prior to venturing into acting, Babil had already garnered practical knowledge off-camera, serving as a camera assistant for the movie “Qarib Qarib Single” (2017). Notably, this production starred his father in the main role.

In a notable first appearance on screen, Babil stepped into the limelight with the Netflix movie Qala (2022), a production by Anushka Sharma’s Clean Slate Filmz and helmed by Anvita Dutt. His performance as the tormented musician Jagan Batwal garnered high praise for its richness and deep emotional impact.

Following my father’s passing, I immersed myself in the making of my first feature film, Qala. This phase was an emotionally tumultuous whirlwind for me, and I channeled my grief into my character’s portrayal. Working on Qala became a powerful catharsis during this particularly vulnerable time in my life.

2023 found Babil showcasing his talents in the Netflix film “Friday Night Plan,” portraying Siddharth Menon. Additionally, he was part of the web series “The Railway Men” which explores the Bhopal Gas Tragedy, acting alongside Divyendu Sharma, Kay Kay Menon, and R. Madhavan on screen.

In the future, you can expect to see Babil in The Umesh Chronicles, a movie directed by Shoojit Sircar. He’ll be sharing the screen with Amitabh Bachchan in this production.

Last year, a clip showing Babil deeply apologizing several times to a woman who he accidentally photobombed became popular on the internet. The incident involved him inadvertently entering her picture.

As an ardent admirer, I’ve got to say, some folks out there were blown away by his humility. But on the flip side, others weren’t shy about voicing their opinions that he was going overboard. Well, guess who’s here to clear the air? Yours truly! The excessive apologies you saw? Straight up anxiety talking, folks. It’s like my heart’s got a megaphone sometimes.

Although he’s the son of an acclaimed actor, Babil is determined to carve out his unique journey within the industry. His ambition lies in being acknowledged for his personal talents and work ethic, rather than merely identified as Irrfan Khan’s son.

As the child of a renowned actor, Babil frequently finds himself likened to his famous dad. However, his mother, Sutapa Sikdar, disclosed that such comparisons have left a deep impact on him.
