As a result, he’s detaining individuals suspected of vigilante activities or those who challenge his authority without trial or due process, keeping them in cages.

Due to recent events, Matt Murdock finds himself compelled to resume his role as Daredevil and establish a clandestine group of allies. His objective is twofold: overthrow the Kingpin while simultaneously becoming the most wanted fugitive. In light of these circumstances, it’s Daredevil’s persona that takes precedence. The Kingpin’s actions and New York’s current state have far-reaching consequences for the MCU, as they pave the way for Season 2 to reunite The Defenders, prepare for a Punisher special episode, and potentially influence “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Defenders Assemble

In the current situation where New York City is under the control of Wilson Fisk’s authoritarian rule, Matt Murdock has been gathering a coalition to support his mission. This group includes individuals such as Karen Page, Cherry, Josie, and Detective Angie Kim, among others. The upcoming season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again may bring back several of Matt Murdock’s former vigilante collaborators, including members of the Defenders. There have been whispers that Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, and Finn Jones could reprise their characters Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist respectively.

The second season of Daredevil: Born Again may bring about a change in its main storyline, providing opportunities for several characters from different Marvel street-level series to reappear. ‘Daredevil: Born Again’s Mid-Credits Scene Ties Into the Punisher’s Special

In anticipation for The Punisher’s comeback in the MCU, fans were excited, but his role in “Daredevil: Born Again” was relatively small. Frank Castle made a brief appearance in Episode 4 and a substantial part of the season finale. Towards the end of the series, Frank Castle ends up incarcerated, along with other vigilantes and potential threats to the Kingpin’s power, after he took down numerous corrupt cops who had donned the Punisher emblem.

Even though no prison can keep The Punisher confined for long, the mid-credits scene of Daredevil: Born Again shows Frank Castle using his charisma to trick a guard into approaching him, which results in him breaking the guard’s arm and taking the key. This action hints at Castle preparing to escape his cell and resume his role as The Punisher, targeting these crooked cops. Instead of leading directly into Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, this scene sets the stage for an upcoming Punisher spin-off special that has already been announced.

Prior to the premiere of “Daredevil: Born Again”, it was announced that Jon Bernthal’s The Punisher would star in a standalone Marvel Special Presentation, with Bernthal also contributing to its scriptwriting. This special is expected to feature The Punisher confronting corrupt police officers who use Kingpin’s symbol, addressing the longstanding controversy surrounding the Punisher skull logo. Given the events of the mid-credits scene, it seems probable that this Punisher special will air before the second season of “Daredevil: Born Again”, which is expected in 2026, thereby expanding The Punisher’s role in the second season.

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’

It appears that Tom Holland’s version of Spider-Man won’t be part of the cast for “Avengers: Doomsday,” which may mean he’ll skip the next Marvel team-up to focus more on “Avengers: Secret Wars” instead.
