Amidst periods when Bollywood tends to favor glitzy rhythms over enduring tunes, the announcement of Awarapan 2 has sparked enthusiasm among followers of Emraan Hashmi and those who cherish classic Hindi film music. The sequel to the 2007 cult favorite Awarapan was formally unveiled on Emraan’s birthday, marking his 46th year. Although the movie itself is still in its early stages of development, what particularly piques our interest is Hashmi’s commitment to reinvigorate the era of heartfelt music that once characterized his film career.
In a recent conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Emraan assured that the emotional, melody-driven music from his earlier films will make a comeback in the album of the upcoming movie “Awarapan” which is set to release next year.
As a die-hard fan, I’ve always admired Emraan’s incredible contributions to some of the most unforgettable Hindi film songs from the 2000s. However, during his conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia, he humbly admitted that he never claimed those hits as his own. Instead, he saw them as a magical blend of talent, luck, and synchronicity. Many of these timeless melodies showcased fresh, promising voices that eventually soared to great heights in the industry.
Apart from Emraan, we found him expressing profoundly about his partnership with the deceased singer KK. He described the loss as an immense shock that has swept through the music industry, emphasizing that no one could ever fill the void left by such exceptional talent.
Under the direction of Nitin Kakkar and penned by Bilal Siddiqi, the movie titled “Awarapan 2” will be released in cinemas on April 3, 2026. This film is produced by Vishesh Films, the same production house that brought us the original, marking a revisit to a genre that gained prominence through Emraan’s emotive acting and gripping romantic narratives. While the sequel promises to continue the story where “Awarapan” ended, fans are equally eager for the music, as Emraan assures it will resonate with the tunes that shaped an era.
Beyond Awarapan 2, Emraan has numerous other ventures on the horizon. These include his debut in Telugu cinema with OG, where he works alongside Pawan Kalyan and Priyanka Mohan. Additionally, he’s involved in G2, the much-anticipated follow-up to Goodachari, and plays a role in the BSF-themed series Ground Zero.
