  • A new livestream for Reverse: 1999 will show off upcoming content on April 18th
  • The stream will showcase content for version 2.5 ‘Showdown in Chinatown’
  • Expect additional details for the upcoming 1.5th anniversary to boot!

As a devoted fan of the popular time-bending RPG Reverse: 1999, I’m thrilled to share that we’re about to receive some exciting 1.5th anniversary content and a sneak peek at version 2.5! Mark your calendars for April 18th, because that’s when we’ll be treated to a livestream revealing the details of the upcoming update, ‘Showdown in Chinatown’. This will be our first opportunity to catch a glimpse of what awaits us in this eagerly anticipated update. Can’t wait!

Of course, the upcoming live broadcast will star Captain Regulus and a newcomer named Officer Liang Yue, both appearing in a cute, stylized format called chibi. This event will include prize draws for game codes and a chance for viewers to win a Nintendo Switch 2 as part of a competition!

Absolutely, since version 2.5 has been widely demonstrated for Chinese gamers previously, we have a good idea of what’s to come. For instance, Showdown in Chinatown is designed as a tribute to Hong Kong martial arts films, complete with an intense crime-thriller storyline centering around the capture of a rogue arcane vigilante.

Script doctoring

In terms of characters, it seems like Officer Liang Yue, skilled in numerous martial arts techniques, will be sneaking onto the film set of another character, Noire. Noire, a perfectionist director confined to a wheelchair, has unique abilities – she controls her actors as if they were puppets, using them to battle enemies. Lastly, Loggerhead, whose head is actually a camera, is also expected to appear in the storyline.

Despite the fact that we’ll need to watch the livestream to confirm which parts of this will be featured in international versions of Reverse: 1999, it’s clear that there will be numerous tributes to fans of Shaw Brothers and John Woo in version 2.5.
