At his packed twin-bill at Madison Square Garden recently, Dom Dolla astounded spectators by inviting none other than Kid Cudi onto the stage. Together for the first time live, they performed popular Cudi hits “Pursuit of Happiness” and “Day ’N’ Nite”, as well as their debut collaboration, “Forever”. This collaborative effort has now officially landed on streaming platforms.
The previous night before our performance at Madison Square Garden, we completed this song. We had no clue about its reception, but as soon as we finished, we instinctively knew it was special.
In another post, Dolla described the song as an envisioning of “a happier time and place.”
In another post, he said, “I was raised on Kid Cudi’s tunes, and they were the soundtrack to my growing years, much like for many of you.” Later on, when we started recording, he told me, “Dom, I no longer compose sad songs. I want to create the happiest song I’ve ever made.” The upbeat electronic track, “Forever,” carries a hint of nostalgia that both Cudi and Dolla agree is the happiest song they’ve ever written.
