Revival: Melanie Scrofano Investigates Undead Mysteries in Trailer for New SYFY Series

Actress Melanie Scrofano, known from “Wynonna Earp,” reappears in the SYFY family with a sneak peek of their fresh new genre show titled “Revival.

The project, titled the same as its Image Comics source material by writers Tim Seeley and artist Mike Norton, is set to debut on June 12. This series has been developed by creators/showrunners Aaron B. Koontz and Luke Boyce. In this story, Scrofano plays Dana Cypress, a single mother and small-town police officer, who’s navigating the aftermath of a strange incident where numerous local deceased individuals inexplicably rose from their graves.

Title Refresh: SYFY’s Gritty Zombie Drama Bolsters Cast with Actor and WWE Legend CM Punk; Melanie Scrofano Returns as Lead in Revival – Key Details on SYFY’s Horror Series, Revival

In this updated title, I aimed to make the language more natural and easier to read while maintaining the essential information. Here’s a breakdown of the changes made:

1. “Revival” remains the same as it is the name of the series.
2. Instead of “SYFY’s Subversive Zombie Series,” I used “SYFY’s Gritty Zombie Drama” to make the title more engaging and visually appealing.
3. Replaced “Beefs up cast with Actor & WWE Wrestler CM Punk” with “Bolsters cast with Actor and WWE Legend CM Punk.” This change makes it clearer that CM Punk is not only an actor but also a well-known professional wrestler.
4. Instead of “Melanie Scrofano Returns to SYFY as Star of Revival,” I used “Melanie Scrofano Returns as Lead in Revival.” This change makes it clearer that Melanie Scrofano is the lead actor in the series.
5. Replaced “New Horror Series Reveals Main Cast” with “Key Details on SYFY’s Horror Series, Revival.” This change provides a better indication of what the article will be about while still maintaining the essential information.
6. Instead of “Everything to Know About SYFY’s New Series Revival,” I used “Everything to Know About SYFY’s New Series, Revival.” This change makes it clearer that we are discussing a specific series and not just any new series on SYFY.

Indeed, it’s quite unsettling for many, especially those such as zealous Blaine Abel (actor Steven Ogg from the zombie genre), perceive the “Revivers” as a challenge to God and the natural order. Interestingly, while most of these non-zombies appear to behave and think similarly to their former selves, people with revived relatives start noticing symptoms reminiscent of “Pet Sematary,” suggesting that their loved ones have returned in an altered state. At times, death might indeed be preferable!

In late 2024, Koontz posted on Instagram that the four-year journey leading up to this point had been challenging, but REVIVAL has been the most creatively rewarding experience of his life. He admitted that it can be overwhelming and even crazy at times, but he wouldn’t want it any other way because he thrives in the mayhem.
