The Weeknd Returns to WME for Representation in All Areas

On Thursday, it was confirmed that The Weeknd has rejoined WME for representation across all aspects of his career, having previously left for CAA in 2021.

Canadian music sensation Abel Tesfaye (also known as The Weeknd) has been officially signed by WME, following his highly anticipated North American stadium tour. This tour, set to commence on May 9 at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, will also star Playboi Carti and super producer Mike Dean, a frequent collaborator of The Weeknd. With its initial leg stretching across various U.S. and Canadian cities, the tour is due to conclude in San Antonio in September. This year’s release of Playboi Carti’s third album, Music, has been one of the most successful albums thus far.

WME also represents Tesfaye’s production company Manic Phase.

Tesfaye continues to shine brightly in the music world, boasting an impressive 116 million monthly listeners on Spotify and holding the record for the most songs with a billion streams on the platform. His latest studio album, titled “Hurry Up Tomorrow“, dropped in January and quickly took over Billboard’s albums chart, selling 490,500 copies upon its release.

In May, the movie “Tomorrow is Near” will be released by Lionsgate, which serves as a companion piece to an album. The film features Tesfaye alongside Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan, with Trey Edward Shults directing. The project was produced by Manic Phase, Reza Fahim, Harrison Kreiss, and Kevin Turen, who sadly passed away in 2023. Executive producers for the film include Jenna Ortega, Trey Edward Shults, Ryan Kroft, Harrison Huffman, Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino, and Weeknd manager Wassim “Sal” Slaiby.

Outside of the movies and TV shows we’ve been discussing, Tesfaye also featured in the film “Uncut Gems” which was released in 2019, and he collaborated on its creation as well as acting alongside Lily-Rose Depp for HBO’s “The Idol.
