To you, as a follower, I’m excited to share that I’ve completed the script for the highly-anticipated reboot of “Night of the Living Dead,” and it’s now with the studio. We have an exceptional director on board, and we’re nearly there, so I can’t reveal too much, but let me assure you, we’re almost ready to move forward.

She enjoyed working on it immensely, as she has always admired George Romero’s “Night of the Living Dead”. At first, she declined the opportunity several times due to her deep respect for the film, considering it a cornerstone of horror. However, Romero’s family requested her to rewatch the movie and consider ideas for a possible adaptation. The idea eventually took shape, leading Morgan to feel compelled to take on the project. She proposed her ideas, which were well-received by the family. Now, they are working with Amazon MGM, hoping to bring the film to life soon.

Under the guidance of horror maestro George A. Romero, who collaborated with John Russo on the script, this groundbreaking film shaped the conventions of zombie terror for future generations. In the lead role was Duane Jones as Ben, a man of African descent, who found himself amidst a zombie infestation alongside skeptical white suburban dwellers during the outbreak. Despite stirring up numerous debates upon its premiere, the movie turned out to be a significant box office hit, raking in more than $30 million while only costing around $125,000 to produce.

Return of the Living Dead Is Also Getting Resurrected

The classic movie “Night of the Living Dead” sparked numerous series that have grown into significant cultural icons. The most famous of these is George A. Romero’s film series, which encompasses movies like “Dawn of the Dead” (1978), “Day of the Dead” (1985), and more recent entries starting with “Land of the Dead” in 2005. After their separation as creators, Tom Savini launched his own “Living Dead” series.
