Fox revealed their schedule for 2025-26 on Monday, and at this point, it appears that shows like “The Cleaning Lady”, “Accused”, “Alert: Missing Persons Unit“, and even “The Great North” animated series are not currently part of the plan.
Currently, five out of the seven dramas that aired on Fox during the 2024-25 season will not be part of the network’s lineup for 2025-26. The freshman series titled Rescue: Hi-Surf has been canceled, and the series 911: Lone Star concluded earlier in the season as previously announced. However, there are exceptions to this trend; the shows Doc and Murder in a Small Town, which both received renewals for a second season, will return in the fall.
The Cleaning Lady and Alert still have a handful of episodes left in their ongoing seasons, and according to Fox Television Network president Michael Thorn, a decision regarding their future will be made once these episodes air. Meanwhile, The Great North is set to continue airing during the summer, with a final decision being postponed until later.
The series, referred to as Accused, concluded its eight-episode second season in December 2024. However, unlike shows featuring recurring characters, this anthology series doesn’t adhere to the same schedule for renewals because it features a new cast for each episode, explained Thorn.
Each of the three dramas experienced a drop in ratings during their initial broadcasts, none managing to attract more than 1.4 million viewers per episode. While streaming and delayed viewings boosted their overall numbers, they still fell short compared to their previous seasons’ totals (specifically, compared to the 2023 season for “Accused”). Interestingly, “The Great North” is roughly on par with its ratings from last year when it comes to its airtime performance.
The initial half of 2025-26 finds Fox’s broadcasting lineup predominantly centered around reality and sports content, while scripted shows are primarily scheduled for Tuesdays (featuring “Murder in a Small Town” and “Doc”) and Sundays (for the network’s animation block).
At present, “The Great North” – now on its fifth season – holds the longest airtime among Fox shows that are neither confirmed for renewal nor cancellation. Compared to it, “The Cleaning Lady” is in the middle of its fourth season, while “Alert” and “Accused” have both aired for three and two seasons respectively.
A fresh drama titled “Memory of a Killer” (based on a 2003 Belgian film) will be added to the Fox lineup alongside “Doc” and “Murder in a Small Town” next season. The network has also greenlit an hour-long comedy named “Best Medicine” (an adaptation of the British series “Doc Martin“) and a limited series called “The Faithful“, which explores the tales of multiple women found in the Old Testament.
