After the intense week of learning about foreshadowing, combat, and drama in the masterclass, it was necessary for GQuuuuuuX to temporarily ease up on the pace. To help both Machu (or Amate Yuzuriha) and the viewers accept that Nyaan could somehow access the Kira-Kira, a pause was essential. Additionally, Machu needed some time off due to her self-esteem taking a hit when she realized she wasn’t as unique as she believed. Episode 6, “The Plot to Assassinate Kycilla,” lived up to these expectations and even exceeded fans’ predictions.
Title-wise, Episode 6 of GQuuuuuuX predominantly delved into the creation of intricate conspiracies and assassination plans, deviating from the typical focus on Clan-Bats or Kycillia Zabin. Interestingly, this was the first episode without a mobile suit battle, instead using the mobile suits as mere backdrops. Contrary to initial impressions, this was not a drawback but rather a strategic pause before larger conflicts ahead. This break is customary in Mobile Suit Gundam series, serving both as a breather after an intense battle and laying the groundwork for future, significant clashes.
GQuuuuuuX Episode 6 Makes Machu a More Endearing Anime Protagonist Than Ever
GQuuuuuuX Episode 6 Lays the Groundwork For Exciting Fights & Conflicts
Instead of dividing Episode 6 of “Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX” into a setup before halftime and a continuation with Clan-Bat afterward, this episode maintains its focus throughout. Although it rotates among three different viewpoints during its duration, the entire episode centers around the characters. The initial segment of the episode delves into Zeon’s officers and their internal conflicts, as well as their secretive negotiations. Fans of Gundam might be taken aback by the second act, which introduces what appears to be this anime’s rendition of the notorious Titans from “Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam”. The third and most relatable segment follows Machu, Nyaan, and Shuji Ito as their friendship starts to crumble, partly due to external factors.
In Episode 6 of GQuuuuuuX, the story’s various components are skillfully managed, giving each character, whether old or new, an ample share of screen time. Characters who were previously silent or absent are given brief moments to speak. Meanwhile, the principal characters take a step back, allowing others to take center stage. This episode of GQuuuuuuX is crafted in a way that each character’s action or response leads to a significant revelation, which in turn paves the way for something even more surprising and jaw-dropping. It’s worth mentioning that this episode sets the stage for some truly captivating and thought-provoking future events.
In this particular installment of GQuuuuuuX, Episode 6, I found myself immersed in a narrative that seemed more focused on arranging its pieces on the metaphorical chessboard than nurturing the depth of its characters. The episode is predominantly plot-oriented, yet it appears to sacrifice character development as a result. Much of the dialogue serves to provide background information about individuals and occurrences not previously depicted onscreen. When they aren’t dishing out details or hints for viewers, the cast delivers cryptic foreshadowing that merely tantalizes us with what’s to come next. Characters tend to take action or make moves only in service of a larger scheme or the episode’s narrative, which can make it challenging not to lose engagement. Even the intriguing encounter between Annqi and Challia Bull felt fleeting, despite its initial appeal.
In contrast to other characters, Machu stands out as particularly resonant due to her deep longing for significance and personal identity, which is evident even amidst numerous unjust obstacles and harsh truths presented in Episode 6 of GQuuuuuuX. For instance, those she believed were allies (the Pomeranians) took away what was dear to her, while her closest connections, such as her mother and Nyaan, struggled to comprehend her perspective. The most disheartening aspect was discovering that others could access the Kira-Kira and operate the Gundam GQuuuuuuX like herself. This revelation meant that what she considered unique about herself was not exclusive. Machu’s vulnerabilities don’t merely make her appealing, but they also establish a strong connection with modern Gundam protagonists.
Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX Is Actually an Alternate Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam
Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX Episode 6 Reveals Unexpected Connections to Another Gundam Anime
In terms of similarities, nothing surpasses mobile suit battles when it comes to Mobile Suit Gundam, but political machinations have always been its close companion. Until now, in Episode 6 of GQuuuuuuX, this aspect was largely absent, with Side 6’s politics and the Principality of Zeon’s feud with the Earth Federation serving more as background noise. However, the spotlight had been on the Clan-Bats and the main trio. But in Episode 6 of GQuuuuuuX, the series’ trademark betrayals, plots, and intricate plans reemerged, adding depth to the world, making Challia more captivating (and threatening), and increasing the level of danger. It’s no longer just about winning some prize money or pursuing personal aspirations; there’s a lot more on the line now.
In a surprising turn of events, it’s clear that Episode 6 of GQuuuuuuX reveals an astounding revelation: instead of being a retelling of the original Mobile Suit Gundam as fans anticipated, it appears to be a re-telling of Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam. This is strongly hinted at by the emergence of GQuuuuuuX’s interpretation of the Titans, key figures like Bask Om, and numerous obscure references. The impact of this twist lies in the fact that prior to Episode 6, the Federation had a minimal presence throughout the series. They were significant only in GQuuuuuuX Episode 2, which was set during the One-Year War. After the Principality of Zeon emerged victorious from the war, the Federation virtually vanished. Even Amuro Ray, who is closely associated with Char Aznable and the Gundam franchise, has yet to make an appearance or be mentioned in the series so far.
In an unexpected turn of events, the residuals of the Federation appeared before characters and spectators of GQuuuuuuX, leaving no doubt about it – a delightful surprise indeed! Given the circumstances, this development was almost predictable. After all, Zeta Gundam was a sequel to the original Gundam and unfolded eight years after the Federation emerged victorious from the One-Year War. Similarly, GQuuuuuuX is set five years following the Principality of Zeon’s victory in the same conflict. Despite their differences, these two Gundam anime share many similarities, primarily because they both focus on the consequences of the One-Year War. Even experienced Gundam enthusiasts didn’t foresee this twist, but they will undoubtedly enjoy spotting the Easter eggs sprinkled throughout this episode. It’s fascinating to observe how the Titans, who once seized power following the Federation’s triumph, grapple with their new position as losers in this storyline. Keeping a keen eye on their journey is definitely recommended!
Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX Episode 6 Is Completely Devoid of Action & Mobile Suits
GQuuuuuuX Episode 6 Focuses More on Characters Than Conflict
Regarding excitement, Episode 6 of GQuuuuuuX could be seen as the least action-packed chapter of the anime. The absence of Clan-Bat battles significantly impacts the episode. Although mobile suits are present in space and conversations revolve around the upcoming Clan-Bat duel, they play a minimal role in GQuuuuuuX Episode 6. Similarly, the animation throughout the episode is relatively subdued. The characters don’t engage in spectacular actions like running or fighting, nor do they display intense facial expressions. Tone it down, the episode’s emphasis on exposition and Machu’s feelings of solitude necessitates this reduction in intensity. Extravagant mobile suit fights or scenes with intricate mecha animation or overly dramatic reactions would have detracted from the narrative. Instead, the episode excels through its straightforward yet impactful cinematography, direction, and framing.
People who are eagerly anticipating the continuation of the anime following “Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX” after the thrilling and intense battle in Episode 5 against the Binarys (the leftovers of the Black Tri-Stars) might find themselves a bit disappointed with “The Plot to Assassinate Kycillia.” This doesn’t mean that the episode is poor by any means. Instead, its craftsmanship and artistic quality remain in line with the series. However, Episode 6 seems like a temporary setback that is both essential and underwhelming. Fortunately, it appears that things will pick up again in “GQuuuuuuX” Episode 7 as war erupts in Side 6, according to the next episode preview.
