Come September 2023, I was thrilled to learn about the official announcement video of “Made In India,” a project by none other than SS Rajamouli, in collaboration with Varun Gupta from Max Studios and SS Karthikeya from Showing Business. This ambitious endeavor is slated as a Pan-India release, telling the story of Indian Cinema, drawing inspiration from the life of Dadasaheb Phalke. Since then, I’ve been eagerly following the progress, and now, SS Rajamouli, SS Karthikeya, and Varun Gupta have finally nailed a solid script draft for this biopic.
Based on information from those involved in the project’s planning, SS Rajamouli, Varun Gupta, and SS Karthikeya recently presented the script to NTR Jr., who promptly agreed to be part of it. It was reported that upon hearing the story about the lesser-known aspects of Dadasaheb Phalke, often referred to as the ‘Father of Indian Cinema’, NTR Jr. was captivated. The narrative follows the emergence and growth of Indian cinema, and NTR Jr.’s enthusiasm stems from the intricate details in the script. He is eager to portray Dadasaheb Phalke on the silver screen, according to a source familiar with the project’s progress.
According to the source, although NTR Jr. has given his approval for the project in words, the necessary documents and formalities are still pending. The source also mentioned that NTR Jr. holds deep affection and admiration not only for SS Rajamouli, but also his son, SS Karthikeya, and co-producer Varun Gupta. After listening to the script, he had an extensive conversation about the plot, screenplay, and production aspects with them.
