Tory Lanez‘s legal representatives have appealed to Governor Gavin Newsom for a pardon or a reduction in his sentence following recent stabbing incidents in prison. They also mentioned recently discovered evidence related to the shooting incident involving Megan Thee Stallion, for which Lanez is currently serving time.
Currently, Daystar Peterson (also known as Lanez) is incarcerated for ten years following his conviction on three firearm charges stemming from a 2020 incident where he allegedly shot Megan Mete (also known as Meg). This shooting resulted in Meg sustaining bullet fragments in her feet. During the trial, Meg testified that Peterson yelled “dance, bitch” before opening fire. However, Peterson denied these charges and has filed an appeal against his sentence.
At a press conference organized by Peterson’s legal team, Unite The People, in downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday, Sunstar Peterson, the rapper’s father, reported that his son was flown to a hospital on Monday due to injuries sustained from an “unprovoked attack.” However, he noted that his son is recovering “exceptionally well” following the incident.
On Monday morning at 7:25 a.m., I learned that my beloved idol, Peterson, had been brutally attacked. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation confirmed the incident, mentioning that investigations have been initiated to uncover the truth behind this horrific event. According to his representatives, Peterson sustained 14 wounds in total – seven on his back, four on his torso, two at the back of his head, one under his left cheekbone, and another that left his jaw open. The shocking news also stated that both his lungs had collapsed. However, I was overjoyed to hear on Wednesday that Peterson is now breathing independently once more.
According to Peterson’s representatives, they urged Newsom to grant Peterson clemency due to the stabbing incident, stating that if he isn’t pardoned and released swiftly, it might be impossible for him to ever leave prison. During his speech, Sunstar Peterson asked both Newsom and President Trump to intervene. Unite The People stated they hadn’t contacted the Governor’s office beyond making the call during their press conference on Wednesday.
Beyond discussing the health issue, Sunstar Peterson himself, along with other representatives on his behalf, have consistently asserted that the rapper did not receive a fair trial. They allege that the prosecution tampered with evidence to secure a conviction, particularly targeting former LA County District Attorney George Gascon for this alleged misconduct.
According to their assertion, Walter Roberts, who serves as the main consultant for Unite The People led by CEO Caesar McDowell, declared that a man identified as Bradley James reached out to them several months prior, alleging to have been Kelsey Harris’s bodyguard during her trial. Harris was present in the car with Peterson and Pete at the time of the incident.
Roberts asserted that the bodyguard overheard a discussion where Harris admitted shooting the gun, while Peterson allegedly disarmed it. However, James wasn’t present during the press conference on Wednesday. Roberts mentioned that they haven’t visited District Attorney Nathan Hochman’s office regarding these claims as of yet.
In response to recent assertions made by Pete Davidson’s team, attorney Alex Spiro expressed disagreement in a statement to THR. He stated, “Tory Lanez was found guilty and sentenced by a jury of his equals, and the proceedings were handled appropriately within the legal system.” He further clarified, “This issue is not about politics – it’s about a violent attack that was addressed and resolved in a court of law.
