Hayden Christensen Reveals Shocking Truth About Anakin and Boba Fett’s Relationship!

In a galaxy as expansive as Star Wars, encounters between unexpected characters are not unheard of, even if it seems improbable. As a devoted Star Wars fan and actor who portrayed Anakin Skywalker himself, Hayden Christensen admitted he didn’t share the same fondness for his character that many others did – in fact, there was a time when he nearly ended the life of Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker. The interconnected nature of Star Wars stories, particularly those set during the Clone Wars like Star Wars: The Clone Wars, often brings characters together in ways that challenge our preconceived notions about the saga and its characters. This truth holds especially true for Anakin Skywalker and Hayden Christensen’s preferred Star Wars character.

It’s well-known that Christensen has a strong attachment to preserving Anakin Skywalker’s legacy, as he guards the character, invests in his development, and is eager to portray him again when suitable for the series. Yet, this devotion doesn’t limit Anakin to being Christensen’s sole favorite Star Wars character; his preferred character from his youth might hold an unexpected charm.

Hayden Christensen’s Favorite Star Wars Character Is Boba Fett

During a quick chat on the red carpet at the Obi-Wan Kenobi premiere, Christensen shared his preferred Star Wars character other than himself. He said, “As a child, I was quite fond of Boba Fett. I’ll stick with Boba Fett as my choice.” Before the prequel trilogy, The Clone Wars, The Mandalorian, and The Book of Boba Fett, Fett didn’t have a significant part in Star Wars narrative. However, this seemingly limited role didn’t diminish his charm for audiences of the original trilogy.

It’s not surprising that a young Hayden Christensen was captivated by Boba Fett’s imposing demeanor and striking armor, as the character left a lasting impression on many viewers, eventually leading to the extensive development of the Mandalorian culture within the Star Wars universe.

Boba Fett & Anakin Skywalker Did Not Have The Best Relationship

Despite Christensen’s affection for Boba Fett, the on-screen characters did not share a mutually respectful bond. Before Anakin became Darth Vader, he had encounters with Boba Fett as a Jedi Knight, and even narrowly escaped death at the hands of Boba and his team. The intricate assassination plot against a specific Jedi Master by Boba Fett is detailed in “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” season 2 episodes 20-22, namely “Death Trap,” “R2 Come Home,” and “Lethal Trackdown.

Indeed, Boba’s chief adversary was the Jedi Knight, Mace Windu. In the first Battle of Geonosis during Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, Mace infamously beheaded Boba’s father, Jango Fett. Throughout the Clone Wars series, Mace was Boba’s primary objective, while Anakin Skymwalker happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. In a later event, Boba equipped a Mandalorian helmet with an explosive device which Anakin accidentally picked up, causing a blast that came close to killing both Jedi Knights.

In a roundabout way, Boba Fett didn’t aim for Anakin Skywalker specifically; however, he certainly didn’t feel sorry if the Jedi Knight ended up as collateral damage. It’s plausible that he held a grudge against Anakin because of his close relationship with Mace Windu. He had observed them both on a Republic Cruiser earlier. Initially, they were scheduled to train clone trooper cadets that day, but Boba Fett had different intentions instead.

In a now-unreleased episode of The Clone Wars, the potential tension between Boba Fett and Anakin Skywalker, their mutual hostility simmering from afar, was poised to unfold in a high-flying showdown on speeders above Coruscant. Sadly, this episode remained unfinished, so it doesn’t hold canonical status. Yet, its existence hints at the intrigue surrounding the possibility of deepening an engaging (albeit somewhat superfluous) rivalry between Anakin and Boba.

Apart from Hayden Christensen, many others share the affection for Boba Fett. His popularity is evident. Although Boba Fett may not be as prominent as other Star Wars characters, his frequent reappearance, even from near-death situations, indicates a compelling reason for his recurrence.
