Nicola Walker, Jermaine Clement to Lead Disney+ British Comedy Series

As a fervent admirer of mine, I’m thrilled to share that the talented Nicola Walker, known for her captivating role in “The Split,” and Jermaine Clement, who charmed us all in “What We Do in the Shadows,” will be at the helm of a brand new, six-part series on Disney+. This enticing project is tentatively titled “Alice and Steve.” Can’t wait to see these brilliant minds bring this story to life!

Hailing from the acclaimed production house Clerkenwell Films (known for “Baby Reindeer”), the story revolves around Alice and Steve, long-time friends whose lives are thrown into turmoil when Steve begins dating Alice’s 26-year-old daughter, Izzy (played by Yali Topol Margalith). As their friendship teeters on the brink, they must navigate chaos and questionable choices that put their bond, families, futures, and everything in between to the ultimate test.

In the movie, Joel Fry from “Cruella” takes on the role of Alice’s husband Daniel. Tyrese Eaton-Dyce, known for “Sherwood,” is cast as their son Dom, while Marcia Warren, an Olivier Award winner from “The Crown,” portrays Alice’s mother Val. Additionally, Eilidh Fisher from “Dope Girls” and Ebony Aboagye are part of the ensemble. Filming for this project has started in London.

The comedy series titled “Stath Lets Flats,” written and overseen by Sophie Goodhart (known for “Sex Education”), has confirmed Tom Kingsley (“Stath Lets Flats”) as its director. Petra Fried, Andy Baker, Ed Macdonald will serve as executive producers for Clerkenwell Films, with Fran du Pille producing. Lee Mason, Disney’s scripted executive director, will also be an executive producer for Disney+. Notably, Clerkenwell Films is a production label owned by BBC Studios.
