At the ongoing 78th Cannes Film Festival, Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter, and Vishal Jethwa’s film “Homebound” received an extended standing ovation that lasted for nine minutes, leaving the entire production team emotional. A touching video of this moment has been widely shared online, causing a stir. Additionally, Vicky Kaushal expressed his pride and sent a special shout-out to them via a heartfelt post on social media.

On May 22nd, Vicky Kaushal posted a video from Brut India, showcasing his Masaan director being overcome with emotion upon receiving a standing ovation, accompanied by thunderous applause and cheers for their film, Homebound. The clip also captured him exchanging warm hugs with Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter, and Vishal Jethwa. Subsequently, Karan Johar, who was equally touched by the reaction, interacted with The Royals actor.

Apart from this, Kaushal’s video further included Ghaywan expressing about a cherished moment. He mentioned, “Frankly, I can’t fathom why I broke down like that. I can’t remember the specific events because as soon as we stood up, something peculiar transpired: it seemed as if there was an immense part of me embedded within the film. I believe it was my subconscious that reacted to even the slightest trigger.

He elaborated on his idea, mentioning that the sequence depicting a father watering their new house was personally inspired by his own experiences. Additionally, he shared that he’s dedicated an uninterrupted four-year span to working on this movie.

To note, Vicky and Neeraj previously worked together on the film Masaan, which made its debut at Cannes Film Festival a decade ago.

The movie “Homebound” was premiered yesterday, on May 21, 2025, and it was directed by Neeraj Ghaywan with Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra serving as producers. Marijke deSouza and Melita Toscan Du Plantier were the co-producers of this film.
