Nonetheless, her childhood wasn’t simple; it was marked by significant events such as her parents’ divorce and the passing of her father at a young age, specifically when she turned 13. Yet, she maintained a resilient drive for her professional aspirations.

In 1970, the actress first appeared alongside Dev Anand in The Evil Within, but it was her following film, Haré Rama Haré Krishna (1971), also featuring Dev Anand, that truly launched her career, as Zaheeda declined the part. Since then, Zeenat has continued to forge ahead with success.

She stated, “Of all the men I worked alongside from the Kapoor clan, Rishi and I had the fewest interactions, socially and professionally.

Zeenat Aman’s personal life drew attention too. In 1978, she tied the knot with actor Sanjay Khan, who was previously married and had four children. However, their union ended tragically following an upsetting event when Khan reportedly physically abused her in a hotel room.

In a troubling turn of events, the actress visited him for discussions about a retake, but a heated dispute escalated into violence instead, causing her to suffer permanent damage to an eye. It is said that Khan’s spouse was present during this traumatic incident and not only witnessed it, but may have also instigated or encouraged the violent altercation.

In 1985, years after initial objections from her mother, Zeenat tied the knot with actor Mazhar Khan. Eager to build a family, she chose to ignore these reservations. Later, in an open conversation with Simi Garewal, she confessed that within a year of their marriage, she realized it was an error.

Actress from The Royals revealed that her husband, Mazhar, discouraged her personal and artistic growth, preferring she stayed home with the children. In our first year of marriage, she acknowledged her grave error, yet chose to persevere, hoping to make it work. Despite her efforts spanning twelve years, nothing changed for the better.

In 1993, Mazhar was diagnosed with a serious pancreatic condition, and Aman stepped up to care for him full-time. From administering injections to coordinating hospital visits, she remained by his side throughout this challenging period. As Zeenat Aman recounted, those years from 1993 to 1997 were a prolonged struggle. When Indian physicians could offer no more hope, she sought treatment abroad for him. However, Mazhar lost his life in 1998 due to kidney failure.

In Mumbai, the family of two boys, Azaan Khan, a movie director, and Zahaan Khan, a musician, lived together. Their mother, Aman, persevered through hardships, instilling strength in her sons, and chose to stay in Mumbai with them.
