Inside Soaring to Life: The Making of How to Train Your Dragon
Exploring the World of Berk more intimately than ever, “Soaring to Life: The Making of How to Train Your Dragon” offers viewers an exclusive backstage pass. Detailed craftsmanship and advanced filmmaking techniques unveil the heartfelt creativity, groundbreaking innovation, and moving storytelling that fuel this contemporary masterpiece.
As a fervent admirer, I’m thrilled to share that the main actors – Mason Thames (Hiccup), Nico Parker (Astrid), and Gerard Butler (Stoick the Vast) – will grace us with their presence. They’ll give us an exclusive look at the intricate sets, groundbreaking technology, and heartfelt storytelling that truly breathed life into this movie.

Initially, DeBlois started the franchise in 2010 together with co-director Chris Sanders (of “The Wild Robot” fame), but he went on to direct the subsequent two films independently – a playful reference to his role as a solo director. All three movies received Academy Award nominations. In addition, Universal Pictures has given the go-ahead for a live-action adaptation of “How to Train Your Dragon 2,” scheduled for release on June 11, 2027.
In an interview, DeBlois explains why he chose to revisit “How to Train Your Dragon”. He found it offered a unique chance – not just to direct a live-action movie, but to step back into a world he deeply missed. The characters and this universe have left a lasting impression on him, and now they can be brought back with such realism and passion that viewers will feel as if they don’t want to leave once they enter it.
